    • A central processing unit (CPU) monitoring system is provided for detecting abnormality in a CPU 1. In the CPU monitoring system, a proposal data is outputted from a proposing section 11 in a monitoring unit 10 to a converting section 12 of the unit 10 and an exercise calculating section 3 in the CPU 1. In the converting section 12, a designated converting operation is carried out to output an expected value data to two judging sections 13, 4 in the monitoring unit 10 and the CPU 1. When the expected value data does not coincide with the calculation result, it is judged at the sections 13, 4, that the CPU 1 has an abnormality, so that a fail-safe operation is performed to cut off the power supply for a motor 8. The converting section 12 has only to convert the proposal data into the expected value data simply. Consequently, even if the CPU 1 is subjected to modification in control specification, there is no need to change the contents of the CPU 1. Additionally, since it is not necessary for the monitoring unit 10 to have a calculating function identical to that of the CPU 1, the manufacturing cost of the system can be reduced.

    • A bolt anchoring device for insertion into a bore in a concrete ceiling or the like material is provided. The bolt anchoring device comprises an anchor sleeve and a bolt. The anchor sleeve is first inserted in the bore for its provisional or temporary attachment. The bolt is then screwed into the anchor sleeve for permanent attachment of the anchor sleeve and the bolt. In one embodiment, the bolt is removable after permanent attachment of the anchor sleeve. The anchor sleeve has a self-retaining means for retaining itself in the bore at the time of its provisional or temporary attachment. The anchor sleeve has a first end portion having a threaded hole and a second end portion having a plurality axial slits. The bolt has an integral plug portion which is pushed into the second end portion to expand the second end portion and make it cut into an inner wall surface of the bore for thereby firmly securing the anchor sleeve in the bore. The plug portion is generally cylindrical and uniform in diameter so that it is hardly removed from the second end portion of the sleeve when once pushed into the second end portion. In one embodiment, the plug portion is twisted off from the bolt when the bolt is twisted by a torque larger than a predetermined value so that the bolt can be removed after permanent attachment of the anchor sleeve.

    • A process for producing a rubber-modified styrene-based resin. The process includes supplying a styrene-based monomer solution containing 5 to 20% by weight of a rubber component containing a styrene-butadiene-based block polymer rubber with a styrene content of 20 to 50% by weight to a first polymerization zone where initial polymerization is conducted to a conversion of 10 to 30%, and then supplying the resulting initial polymerization solution to a second polymerization zone where polymerization is conducted to a conversion of 30 to 70%, while at the same time phase inversion is caused, thereby controlling a rubber particle diameter to a range of 0.2 to 1.5 .mu.m and an area average rubber particle diameter/number average rubber particle diameter ratio (Ds/Dn) to not more than 2.5. The process results in ease of removal of polymerization heat, reduced power for agitation and does not require a high strength apparatus. The rubber-modified styrene-based resin obtained by the process has a high impact strength, and excellent gloss and stiffness.
