    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which demonstrates a stable degraded toner-recovering capability and prevents a recording medium from being contaminated, accompanying the recovery of degraded toner. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus develops an electrostatic latent image by toner to form a toner image and transfers and fixes the toner image onto the recording medium, to form an image composed of a fixed toner image on the recording medium. The image forming apparatus includes an image carrier, carrying the electrostatic latent image; a developing part which has a developer containing the toner and develops the electrostatic latent image on the image carrier by the toner in the developer to form the toner image; a temperature detection part which directly or indirectly detects the temperature of the developer in the developing part; and a cleaning part which can abut against and separating from the image carrier, and comes into contact with the image carrier to remove the toner of the toner image formed by the developing part, from the image carrier, when the detection result of the temperature detection part shows a prescribed high-temperature state.
