SOLUTION: In various embodiments, the surgical stapling instrument can include a handle part, a shaft part extending from the handle part, wherein the shaft part defines an axis, and the disposable loading unit which is fitted to the shaft part in a direction which is transverse to the shaft part axis. Such a connection between the disposable loading unit and the shaft part can prevent, or at least inhibit, the disposable loading unit from being unintentionally displaced proximally and/or distally relative to the shaft part of the surgical stapling instrument. The surgical stapling instrument and/or disposable loading unit can further include a threaded collar part and/or detent assembly part configured to hold the disposable loading unit at an appropriate place. SOLUTION: The surgical stapling apparatus can include a driving claw interfacing with a manually operable handle. Because the driving pawl can have a pawl body with the driving tooth thereon structured to interact with an operation shaft, when the manually operable handle is operated, the driving tooth interacts with the operation shaft, and the operation shaft applies operation motions to an elongated body of stapling apparatus functionally connected with an end effecter. If the end effecter suffers any firing load larger than a prescribed magnitude, the driving tooth moves relative to the pawl body and to disengage from the operation shaft. Despite the continued operation of the manually operable handle by the excessive load, further transfer of operation motions to the elongated body of the stapling apparatus is prevented.
