摘要： A spread spectrum system having an assignor, a spread-spectrum processor and a transmitter. The assignor assigns each arriving information signal to a message-code signal. Each message-code signal is different then other message-code signals. The spread-spectrum processor generates a pilot code signal and processes the information signals with the message-code signals to generate spread-spectrum process-message signals synchronized to the pilot-code signal. A transmitter combines the spread-spectrum process-message signals and the pilot-code signal to generate a CDM signal. The transmitter modulates the CDM signal with a carrier signal for transmission over the communications channel.

摘要： A spread-spectrum system having an assignor, a spread-spectrum processor, a call processor, and an information-channel-mode modifier. The assignor assigns each information signal arriving at the spread-spectrum system to a message-code signal. Each of the message-code signals supports a pre-determined information-channel rate. Several information signals have different channel rates, and each information signal is assigned according to the required channel rate. The spread-spectrum processor generates a pilot-code signal, and spread-spectrum processes the information signals with the message-code signals to generate a plurality of spread-spectrum processed-message signals, respectively. The message-code signals are synchronized to the pilot-code signal. The call processor provides a call-type signal corresponding to the information signal rate for the several information signals having several different channel rates. In response to the call-type signal, the information-channel-mode modifier changes a combination of the information signals and the message-code signals to support the several different channel rates for the several information signals having several different channel rates.

摘要： A method and apparatus for communication data signal blocking for a base radio control station (RCS) which wirelessly communicates with subscriber units (SUs) via a spread spectrum communication system is disclosed. A transmitter sends signals as a baseband combined signal over global and assigned channels to SUs. The SUs are set to initial power levels and the power levels are adjusted in advance of receiving signals on assigned channels. The power levels are combined to define an RCS transmitter power level, which is preferably a root mean square value of the baseband combined signal. The transmission power levels are adjusted in response to corresponding power control signals received from the SUs. Transmission of a new communication data signal on an assigned channel is blocked if a predetermined RCS transmitter power level limit is reached before commencing transmission of that signal.

摘要： A CDMA modem includes a modem transmitter having: a code generator which provides an associated pilot code signal and which generates a plurality of message code signals: a spreading circuit which produces a spread-spectrum message signal by combining each of the information signals with a respective one of the message code signals; and a global pilot code generator that provides a global pilot code signal to which the message code signals are synchronized. The CDMA modem also includes a modem receiver having an associated pilot code generator and a group of associated pilot code correlators for correlating code-phase delayed versions of the associated pilot signal with a receive CDM signal to produce a despread associated pilot signal. The code phase of the associated pilot signal is changed responsive to an acquisition signal value until a pilot signal is received. The associated pilot code tracking logic adjusts the associated pilot code signal in phase responsive to the acquisition signal so that the signal power level of the despread associated pilot code signal is maximized. Finally, the CDMA modem receiver includes a group of message signal acquisition circuits, each including a plurality of receive message signal correlators which correlate respective local received message code signal to the CDM signal to produce a respective despread received message signal.

摘要： An automatic power control (APC) system for a spread-spectrum communications system includes an automatic forward power control (AFPC) system, and an automatic reverse power control (ARPC) system. In the AFPC, each subscriber unit (SU) measures a forward signal-to-noise ratio of a respective forward channel information signal to generate a respective forward channel error signal which includes a measure of the uncorrelated noise in the channel and a measure of the error between the respective forward signal-to-noise ratio and a pre-determined signal-to-noise value. A control signal generated from the respective forward channel error signal is transmitted as part of a respective reverse channel information signal. A base unit includes AFPC receivers which receive respective reverse channel information signals and extract the forward channel error signals therefrom to adjust the power levels of the respective forward spread-spectrum signals. In the ARPC system, each base measures a reverse signal-to-noise ratio of each of the respective reverse channel information signals and generates a respective reverse channel error signal which includes a measure of the uncorrelated noise in the channel and a measure of the error between the respective reverse signal-to-noise ratio and a pre-determined signal-to-noise value. The base unit transmits a control signal generated from the respective reverse channel error signal as a part of a respective forward channel information signal. Each SU includes an ARPC receiver which receives the forward channel information signal and extracts the respective reverse error signal to adjust the reverse transmit power level of the respective reverse spread-spectrum signal.

摘要： The present invention is related to a method and apparatus for implementing space frequency block coding (SFBC) in an orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) wireless communication system. The present invention is applicable to both a closed loop mode and an open loop mode. In the closed loop mode, power loading and eigen-beamforming are performed based on channel state information (CSI). A channel coded data stream is multiplexed into two or more data streams. Power loading is performed based on the CSI on each of the multiplexed data streams. SFBC encoding is performed on the data streams for each of the paired subcarriers. Then, eigen-beamforming is performed based on the CSI to distribute eigenbeams to multiple transmit antennas. The power loading may be performed on two or more SFBC encoding blocks or on each eigenmodes. Additionally, the power loading may be performed across subcarriers or subcarrier groups for weak eigenmodes.

摘要： A base station for controlling transmission power during the establishment of a communication channel utilizes the reception of a short code during initial power ramp-up. The short code is a sequence for detection by the base station which has a much shorter period than a conventional access code. The ramp-up starts from a power level that is lower than the required power level for detection by the base station. The power of the short code is quickly increased until the signal is detected by the base station. Once the base station detects the short code, it transmits an indication that the short code has been detected.

The current peripheral device requirements of the WTRU are determined. The radio frequency (RF) environment of the WTRU is scanned to determine if there are any available wireless peripheral devices or wireless auxiliary devices proximate to the WTRU. A determination is also made as to whether there is a wired peripheral device or a wired auxiliary device available. A list of currently available peripheral devices is compiled by scanning at least one peripheral device registry associated with at least one of a wireless auxiliary device and a wired auxiliary device. The list is presented on the WTRU's display and a user selects at least one of the available peripheral devices from the list.

The received communication signals are input to a pilot signal cancellation system for removing a global pilot signal, thereby producing an output (Oadd). The output (Oadd) of the pilot signal cancellation system is subtracted from the output (O) of the traffic signal cancellation system to provide a cancellation system output.
