    • The present invention is directed to implantable and insertable medical devices (also referred to herein as internal medical devices), which contain one or more peroxide-converting catalysts. According to an aspect of the invention, internal medical devices are provided, which contain (a) a substrate and (b) a peptide-containing, peroxide-converting catalyst disposed over at least a portion of the substrate. According to another aspect of the invention, internal medical devices are provided which contain a catalyst binding entity. The catalyst binding entity is adapted to bind to endogenous peroxide-converting catalyst upon implantation or insertion of the devices into patients. In another aspect of the invention, internal medical devices are provided which contain a biodegradable region that in turn contains a peroxide-converting catalyst. These devices release the catalyst in conjunction with degradation of the biodegradable region. In yet another aspect of the invention, internal medical devices are provided which contain a substrate, a multilayer region disposed over at least a portion of the substrate, and a peroxide-converting catalyst disposed within the multilayer region. The multilayer region, in turn, contains a plurality of charged layers of alternating charge, which charged layers further contain a plurality of polyelectrolyte containing layers.

    • An apparatus, system and method of a resonator device with an adjustable capacitor for allowing the resonance frequency (F) of the resonator device to continue to be matched to the Larmor frequency of the MRI system. The resonator device includes an inductor coil, a conductive member, a sleeve having first and second sockets that receive at least portions of the inductor coil and the conductive member as electrodes to provide a capacitor structure. Dielectric material can be positioned between at least the first and second sockets, where changes in the cross sectional area defined by the induction coil cause changes in the capacitance value (C) as one or more of the electrodes move within the socket. Changes in the inductance and the capacitance values allow for the resonance frequency (F) of the resonator device to continue to be matched to the Larmor frequency of the MRI system.

    • According to an aspect of the present invention, implantable or insertable medical devices (also referred to as internal medical devices) are provided. These medical devices include at least one machined layer, at least a portion of which is disposed over at least one underlying region (e.g., a therapeutic agent containing region, a catalytic region, etc.). The at least one machined layer contains a plurality of excavated regions which promote the transport of molecular species across the machined layer. An advantage of the present invention is that medical devices are provided, in which the transport of species into the medical device, out of the medical device, or both are controlled, and may be customized, as desired.
