    • Regenerative surfing is utilizing a controllable regenerative braking system to regulate speed while surfing. A vertical sculling hydrofoil boat, utilizes the regenerative braking system and includes a vertical sculling drive system for both propulsion and regenerative braking. The regenerative surfing boat also may include ballast tanks to tune the speed at which the maximum lift to drag ratio appears. The regenerative surfing boat may use an automated surfing control system to control the boat. A method of controlling the trajectory of a surfing boat by controlling a regenerative braking device utilizes a hydrodynamic power collection device for trajectory control as an energy harvesting method.

    • A cam-lock water gate designed to control water flow from a pond, lake, field, canal or the like. A primary body member is provided with an aperture therethrough and a short section of pipe stub integral with the main body member and opening into said aperture. An adjustable gate plate is mounted on said main body member and constrained between parallel guide channels to permit the gate to be adjusted for completely opening the aperture, partially opening the aperture, or completely closing the aperture. A regular duty embodiment employs a simple handle and rod control for both adjusting the gate plate as well as locking the cam-lock mechanism to positively retain the gate plate in the set position once adjusted. Another heavy duty embodiment employs heavier materials and heavier construction of the device and also incorporates a security lock bar that enables the gate plate to be locked to prevent unauthorized adjustment thereof. Another embodiment employs a threaded rod with adjusting nut operated by a wheel type control. A modified cam-lock mechanism is also incorporated for locking the gate plate in adjusted position. Rustproof and corrosion resistant materials are used for construction throughout all of the embodiments. Because of the lightweight construction employed all of the devices may be installed without the use of heavy equipment for most installations.

    • A hydrokinetic turbine system, including a plurality of hydrokinetic turbines is installed on a bed of a body of water. Each turbine has a shroud with a forward entrance portion and rear exit portion. The shroud includes a propeller disposed in a middle portion thereof. An inner surface of the shroud includes a plurality of rifling vanes formed therein to induce water entering the forward entrance portion to rotate in a vortex-like fashion. A plurality of pre-spin guard blades disposed adjacent the forward entrance portion also induce rotation of water and serve to provide a barrier preventing objects from passing into the forward entrance portion. A plurality of stabilizers extending from an exterior surface of the shroud that position the forward entrance portion in the direction of current flow.

    • A method and a system for creating a network of virtual machines in a communication network including a head node virtual machine (VM) for distribution and processing of a workload. The head node VM is created and hosted at a server computer. The head node VM specifies the workload that is assignable into sub-tasks. A pool of physical computing devices for hosting a plurality of replica VMs is identified. The head node VM is replicated at each one of the plurality of replica VMs. The plurality of replica VMs coordinate to assign at least one workload sub-task to the each one of the plurality of replica VMs. The at least one assigned workload sub-tasks is processed at the respective each one of the plurality of replica VMs to provide at least one sub-task result. The at least one sub-task result is received at the head node VM.

    • A transparency of a panel of the invention is secured to an recess in a vehicle by biasing the panel toward a hole in the recess defined by an end of a flange, and fixedly mounting the panel to the flange in less than 10 minutes. In one embodiment, the transparency is secured to the recess from a position within the vehicle. In another embodiment, the panel is replaced by providing access to the hole and moving the mounting devices toward the hole to engage the flange to fixedly secure the panel over the hole. When a prior art broken transparency is replaced, the broken transparency and the structural adhesive is removed, and a panel of the invention is mounted over the hole. When an unbroken panel of the invention is to be replaced, the inner trim from the recess is removed, and the mounting devices released from the flange.
