    • A handover method between wireless communication systems each using a different wireless access technology and a method for transmitting a forward synchronization signal therefore are provided to perform seamless handover by providing a frame structure including an SCH(Synchronous Channel)/P-BCH(Primary-Broadcasting Channel) supporting measurement of handover. An MS(Mobile Station)(500), which communicates with a home base station(S0) acquires information such as the number of transmission antennas of a target base station, and bandwidth information(S1). The MS reports the information to the home base station(S2). The home base station inquires a target base station(520) as to whether the MS can perform handover(S3). If there is available radio resources, the target base station informs the home base station accordingly(S4). The home base station instructs the MS to perform handover(S5). The MS transmits a handover preamble to the target base station(S6). The target base station allocates resources for data communication to the MS(S7). The MS communicates with the target base station with the allocated radio resources to thus complete inter RAT handover(S8).

    • A method for generating a downlink signal, and a method for searching a cell are provided to perform a rapid synchronization acquisition and a cell search by dividing one frame into a plurality of synchronization blocks and arranging a different synchronization identifying sequence in each synchronization block. A method for generating a downlink signal includes the steps of: generating a downlink frame(S210); arranging a cell intrinsic identifying code group corresponding to a predetermined cell in a plurality of synchronization sections of the downlink frame so that a plurality of repeated patterns are formed in a time domain; transforming the downlink frame into a time domain signal; and generating a downlink signal by adapting a plurality of frame synchronization identifying sequences to the plurality of synchronization sections in the time domain signal(S230). The frame synchronization identifying sequence includes a plurality of orthogonal identifying codes corresponding to the plurality of repeated patterns. The downlink signal generating step includes the step of generating the downlink signal by multiplying the plurality of orthogonal identifying codes by the plurality of repeated patterns.

    • An apparatus for generating a downlink signal, and a method and an apparatus for searching a cell in a cellular system are provided to estimate a cell group search and a frame synchronization by using a plurality of synchronization patterns formed in one frame. An apparatus for generating a downlink signal includes a pattern generator(110), and a time-frequency mapping unit(130). The pattern generator(110) generates a synchronization pattern for each of a plurality of synchronization blocks which form one frame of the downlink signal. The plurality of synchronization blocks is a group of a plurality of consecutive sub frames. The synchronization pattern includes a cell group number and a start point of the frame. The time-frequency mapping unit(130) maps the synchronization pattern to a time-frequency domain, and generates the downlink signal.
