    • The application relates to a safety arrangement (1) for a motor vehicle comprising an electrical energy storage unit (2). The arrangement is particularly intended for use in a motor vehicle configured to be powered electrically, or by a so-called hybrid motor, and which hence comprises a high voltage electrical storage unit (2) such as a battery or capacitor. The safety arrangement (1) is configured to cool the storage unit (2) in response to a signal indicative of an accident situation or battery malfunction, and comprises: a source (8) of compressed inert gas (9) and a flow- release actuator, the flow-release actuator (13) being actuable upon receipt of an actuation signal so as to release a flow (46) of inert gas (9) from said source, the arrangement being configured such that said flow (46) is directed substantially onto said storage unit (2) so as to cool the unit. The invention provides a cutting mechanism (23) operable under the action of said flow of gas (9) to sever a conductor (7) electrically connecting said storage unit (2) to circuitry (6) provided within said vehicle. Thus, the storage unit (2) is cooled and isolated from the rest of the vehicle.

    • An assembly including a support housing and an actuator device. The actuator device includes an extendable initiator cup including at least one non-random fold and at least in part defining a storage chamber containing a reactive charge reactable to produce reaction products. The extendable initiator cup is folded to form a pocket that contains a portion of a moveable element. The extendable initiator cup longitudinally extends from a first length to a second, greater length upon reaction initiation of the reactive charge. The extendable initiator cup and the moveable element are at least partially disposed within a longitudinally extending bore of the support housing. The extending initiator cup moves the moveable element within the bore. The support housing is effective to limit lateral expansion of the extendable initiator cup upon reaction initiation of the reactive charge.

    • A test circuit (10) tests a device under test (DUT) (30, 50, 90, 92) using a first switching device (38, 58) and a second switching device (42, 62). The device under test (DUT) has a terminal for receiving a test signal (Drain Force). The first switching device (38, 58) has an output terminal for use in coupling the test signal (Drain Force) to the terminal of the DUT (30, 50, 90, 92) when the DUT is being tested. The first switching device (38, 58) is high impedance when the DUT is not being tested. The second switching device (42, 62) is high impedance when the DUT is being tested and couples a bias control signal (Drain Leakage) to the output terminal of the first switching device (38, 58) when the DUT is not being tested. The bias control signal substantially tracks the test signal. Leakage from the first switching device when other DUTs are being tested is greatly reduced because the bias control signal results in little or no bias across the first switching device.
