    • A detonator for a land mine containing electric circuit means for controlling and effecting the ignition of a detonator pellet, a driving mechanism controlled by said electric circuit for delaying the ignition of said pellet for a predetermined period of time, and a movable contact device subject to a change of position away from a gravity induced initial position for closing a portion of said electric circuit means. A slidable member in the housing of said detonator when moved in one direction actuates a switch member which starts the operation of said driving mechanism and at the same time moves another movable contact member into a position between two spaced fixed contacts, both of which are connected with said electric circuit means. Upon applying an external force to said slidable member, the same is moved an additional amount and the movable contact member is brought into engagement with one of said fixed contacts, thereby closing said electric circuit means for effecting the ignition.

    • An automatic firearm, particularly a gas operated weapon, comprises a cartridge feeding system which operates upon movement of a reciprocating breech block to feed a series of cartridges in succession to the cartridge chamber of the gun barrel under the control of gas pressure which is generated during the firing of each cartridge. A cartridge feeding device for the gun includes a multi-operable cartridge magazine which has a plurality of rotatable stars arranged at transversely spaced locations and which may be shifted selectively into operative positions in which a rotatable shaft portion becomes automatically coupled to a coupling and indexing mechanism which is carried on the gun. The coupling and indexing mechanism comprises a rotary portion which is rotated upon movement of a piston member which is connected during the firing to the pressure gases so that it is shifted to effect rotation of the coupling. The coupling is connected to the shaft of the indexing star which is in the operative position so that the cartridges of this portion are fed in succession to the cartridge chamber of the gun barrel. The construction permits shifting from one rotatable cartridge supplying star system to another or to a system in which the cartridges are fed either by the rotatable star or by a magazine clip which feeds the cartridges directly downwardly to a position in which they are moved to the cartridge chamber.

    • A winder for yarn and the like, having the automatic yarn transfer system of the present invention, includes a drive roll and at least two rotatable chucks each of which is adapted to carry a bobbin tube and is movable into and out of driven engagement with the drive roll. A traversing arrangement traverses a running yarn which is being wound onto one of the chucks, so as to form a yarn package on the latter. A transfer arrangement effects automatic transfer of the running yarn from the one chuck, upon forming of the yarn package thereon, to the other of the chucks. When the yarn package has been formed on the other chuck the running yarn is then automatically transferred again to the first-mentioned chuck.

    • A first false-twisting unit includes three axially parallel shafts of which two carry pairs of cooperating rotary friction members defining respective nips through which the travelling yarn passes for false-twisting and on a third of which a driven friction-drive roller is provided to drive the friction members. A second false-twisting unit includes a first roller coaxial with the friction-drive roller having an axial length substantially greater than the rotary friction members, and a second roller rotatably mounted in axial parallelism with the first roller and engaging the latter with its periphery to form with the first roller a second nip through which the travelling yarn passes to have a final false twist imparted to it and have its filaments moved into mutual parallelism. An arrangement is provided for traversing the second roller axially along the second roller.
