摘要： An adaptor, a system and a method to orient an elongate medical device in relation to an endoscope are provided. The adaptor includes a first portion and a second portion. The first portion includes a connecting portion to rotationally securable to a distal end of the first portion to the endoscope, a first lumen extending longitudinally through the first portion and operably connectable to a working channel of the endoscope, and one of an orienting key or a keyway extending longitudinally at least partially along the first portion. The second portion is releasably connectable to the first portion and includes the other of the key or the keyway extending longitudinally along at least a portion of the second portion and a second lumen operably connectable to the first lumen and configured to receive an elongate medical device rotationally secured in relation to the second portion therethrough.

摘要： Differing cytology device apparatuses, and methods for their use, are provided for collecting cytology samples from within a marrzmalian body. The apparatuses and methods disclosed are minimally invasive. Some of the apparatuses include a needle having an inner lumen extending from a proximal to a distal end. A styles, having a proximal end and a distal end, is adapted to be inserted into the inner lumen of the needle to plug the inner lumen while a cyto g sample is cut in order to prevent contamination within the needle. The distal end of the styles may be sharp, and may be adapted to extend beyond the distal end of the needle to cut a cytology sample. Also included is a cytology collection device which is adapted to be inserted into the inner lumen of the needle when the stylet is withdrawn from the inner lumen of the needle. The distal end of the cytology collection device is extended beyond the distal end of the needle in order to collect the cytology sample, and then retracted inside the needle after collecting the sample. In one embodiment, a cytology collection device comprises an elongate member having a plurality of bristles near its distal end. In another embodiment, a cytology collection device comprises an inflatable balloon. In yet another embodiment, a cytology collection device comprises a wire mesh device. In a further embodiment, the apparatus may include an endoscope which contains a transducer emitting ultrasound waves which are used to determine a position of the cytology collection device within the body.

摘要： A delivery device for deploying an expandable prosthesis and method of use thereof are described. The delivery device comprises an outer catheter that is capable of retracting in a proximal direction and resheathmg over the prosthesis in a distal direction. The device comprises a drive pulley that can engage a particular gear set to retract the outer catheter and expose the prosthesis. The drive pulley can also engage another gear set to resheath the outer catheter and recapture the prosthesis between the inner and the outer catheter. A directional switch enables the device to operate between the two modes.

摘要： A retrieval device for use in renal, biliary, vascular or other systems of a body includes a collapsible basket in a narrow sheath. A surgeon advances the device beyond an object to be removed from a body, such as a kidneystone, a gallstone, or a thrombus. The surgeon then retracts the sheath or advances the basket from the sheath. The basket deploys only to one side of the sheath. In some embodiments, the periphery of the basket has a flex point to enable the basket to easily collapse into the sheath. If the sheath is adjacent a body vessel, such as a blood vessel or a ureter, the sheath remains adjacent the wall, while the device deploys in such a manner as to seal against the walls of the vessel and block the flow of fragments, emboli, thrombi, or other undesirable objects.
