摘要： The present invention relates to the delivery of atenolol, pindolol, esmolol, propranolol, or metoprolol through an inhalation route. Specifically, it relates to aerosols containing atenolol, pindolol, esmolol, propranolol, or metoprolol that are used in inhalation therapy. In a method aspect of the present invention, atenolol, pindolol, esmolol, propranolol, or metoprolol is administered to a patient through an inhalation route. The method comprises: a) heating a composition of atenolol, pindolol, esmolol, propranolol, or metoprolol, to form a vapor; and, b) allowing the vapor to cool, thereby forming a condensation aerosol comprising particles with less than 5% drug degradation products. In a kit aspect of the present invention, a kit for delivering atenolol, pindolol, esmolol, propranolol, or metoprolol through an inhalation route is provided which comprises: a) a thin coating of an atenolol, pindolol, esmolol, propranolol, or metoprolol composition and b) a device for dispensing said thin coating as a condensation aerosol.

摘要： The present invention relates to the delivery of anti-migraine compounds through an inhalation route. Specifically, it relates to aerosols containing sumatriptan, frovatriptan, or naratriptan that are used in inhalation therapy. In a method aspect of the present invention, sumatriptan, frovatriptan, or naratriptan is administered to a patient through an inhalation route. The method comprises: a) heating a thin layer of sumatriptan, frovatriptan, or naratriptan on a solid support to form a vapor; and, b) passing air through the heated vapor to produce aerosol particles having less than 5% drug degradation products. In a kit aspect of the present invention, a kit for delivering sumatriptan, frovatriptan, or naratriptan through an inhalation route is provided which comprises: a) a thin coating of a sumatriptan, frovatriptan, or naratriptan composition; and, b) a device for dispending said thin coating as a condensation aerosol.

摘要： The present invention relates to the delivery of antihistamines through an inhalation route. Specifically, it relates to aerosols containing diphenhydramine that are used in inhalation therapy. In a composition aspect of the present invention, the aerosol comprises particles comprising at least 5 percent by weight of diphenhydramine. In a method aspect of the present invention, diphenhydramine is delivered to a mammal through an inhalation route. The method comprises: a) heating a composition, wherein the composition comprises at least 5 percent by weight of diphenhydramine, to form a vapor; and, b) allowing the vapor to cool, thereby forming a condensation aerosol comprising particles, which is inhaled by the mammal. In a kit aspect of the present invention, a kit for delivering diphenhydramine through an inhalation route to a mammal is provided which comprises: a) a composition comprising at least 5 percent by weight of diphenhydramine; and, b) a device that forms a diphenhydramine containing aerosol from the composition, for inhalation by the mammal.

摘要： The present invention relates to the delivery of stimulants through an inhalation route. Specifically, it relates to aerosols containing ephedrine or fenfluramine that are used in inhalation therapy. In a composition aspect of the present invention, the aerosol comprises particles comprising at least 5 percent by weight of ephedrine or fenfluramine. In a method aspect of the present invention, one of ephedrine or fenfluramine is delivered to a mammal through an inhalation route. The method comprises: a) heating a composition, wherein the composition comprises at least 5 percent by weight of ephedrine or fenfluramine, to form a vapor; and, b) allowing the vapor to cool, thereby forming a condensation aerosol comprising particles, which is inhaled by the mammal. Specifically, it relates to aerosols containing rizatriptan or zolmitriptan that are used in inhalation therapy. 摘要： A device, method, and system for producing a condensation aerosol are disclosed. The device includes a chamber having an upstream opening and a downstream opening which allow gas to flow through the chamber, and a heat-conductive substrate located at a position between the upstream and downstream openings. Formed on the substrate is a drug composition film containing a therapeutically effective dose of a drug when the drug is administered in aerosol form. A heat source in the device is operable to supply heat to the substrate to produce a substrate temperature greater than 300 oC, and to substantially volatilize the drug composition film from the substrate in a period of 2 seconds or less. The device produces an aerosol containing less than about 10% by weight drug composition degradation products and at least 50% of the drug composition of said film.

摘要： The present invention relates to the delivery of antipsychotics through an inhalation route. Specifically, it relates to aerosols containing antipsychotics that are used in inhalation therapy. In a method aspect of the present invention, an antipsychotic is delivered to a patient through an inhalation route. The method comprises: a) heating a composition, wherein the composition comprises an antipsychotic, to form a vapor; and, b) allowing the vapor to cool, thereby forming a condensation aerosol comprising particles with less than 5% antipsychotic drug degradation products. In a kit aspect of the present invention, a kit for delivering an antipsychotic through an inhalation route is provided which comprises: a) a thin coating of an antipsychotic composition and b) a device for dispensing said thin coating as a condensation aerosol.
