Film strips which are to be duplicated on other light sensitive film strips are fed in registration between the contacting belts. Each of the belts and/or the film strips are imparted oppositely poled electrostatic charges by a corona discharge or contact electrode to cause the strips to be electrostatically attracted to one another so that they will be locked together during movement at a rate of 8 to 50 feet per minute through the exposure station.

摘要： Apparatus and method for developing electrostatically imaged copy sheets by the application of a liquid developer to the imaged surface thereof includes a cylinder mounted for rotation in a predetermined direction and at a predetermined speed while being dipped into a supply of developer liquid. A copy sheet is passed over the cylinder in the direction of rotation of the latter with the imaged surface of the copy sheet in contacting relation with the liquid coated surface of the cylinder. A sensor downstream of the cylinder along the copy sheet path detects the leading edge of the copy sheet and in response thereto reverses the direction of rotation of the cylinder until such time as the trailing edge of the sheet passes the sensor. In a preferred embodiment, the cylinder includes an internal auger which stirs the supply of developer liquid during rotation of the cylinder to maintain toner particles in the developer liquid in suspension. The outer surface of the cylinder includes a plurality of glass beads, each having a diameter in the range of 0.002 to 0.010 inches for carrying a predetermined quantity of developer liquid for application to the copy sheets.

Masters are employed which are formed with indicia or coded markings along one or two edges which provide signals for causing a desired number of copies of each successive master to be produced and for sorting the produced copies in a desired manner, for example according to the number of copies to be sent to each of a plurality of different destinations. A scanner is provided for examining the code marks to produce signals, and circuits responsive thereto serve to actuate parts of the duplicating machine. A digital memory device is utilized to store information supplied by the code of one master while reproduction from a previous master is going on.

摘要： A high-speed magnetic brush assembly is provided in which an array of magnets are arranged inside a nonmagnetic cylinder to control the movement of the developer mixture of iron powder and toner. The cylinder rotates about the fixed magnets. One set of magnets attracts a quantity of mix to the cylinder and subsequent magnets transport the mix to the next station where a single or multiple magnets brush develops the paper. At another station, the magnet discharges the mix from the cylinder. The assembly is enclosed to contain the mix and includes a spillway for the mix leading to mixing chambers where the mix is reconditioned for reuse.
