摘要： A circuit for generating refresh signals for a dynamic, random access memory is disclosed. The circuit comprises a timer which periodically generate refresh request signals. Each refresh request signal increments a refresh request counter. In normal system operation, after a memory access cycle, a refresh cycle is performed if there is a non-zero count in the counter. At the start of each refresh cycle, the counter is decremented and the refresh address to the memory is changed. Refreshing of the memory continues until the count is zeroed. If, for some reason, memory accesses are not performed within the memory refresh time limit, the count in the counter reaches a critical limit and a non-maskable interrupt is generated to the system processor causing it to access an interrupt vector in the memory and force refresh cycles.

摘要： A method and apparatus for detecting diskette change is provided. A step pulse signal generated using the CPU is sent to the step pulse line of the disk drive, in addition to the normal step pulse signal which can be issued from the floppy disk controller. Thus, a step pulse can be issued directly by the CPU without using the FDC. By positioning the head in the outmost cylinder and issuing a step pulse, at a time when the direction signal indicates outward direction, the door-open status signal can be updated, without causing movement of the head. By preventing head movement in response to a step pulse, door-open status information is updated without undesirable effects of excessive head movement, drive spinning, head movement noise, constant illumination of the drive light or unnecessarily occupying the CPU or other components.

摘要： A multimeter converts an input voltage into decibels. Preferably, the input voltage is converted into dbm. The multimeter includes a table of voltage values wherein each entry is associated with a given decibel value. The input voltage is compared with entries in the table to locate a first entry which is larger than the input voltage. A second entry having a lower value than the input voltage is then located in the table. A fractional value that is indicative of where the input voltage lies at a range between the first entry and the second entry is calculated using the first and second entries. The fractional value is added to a decibel value corresponding the second entry to produce a decibel value for the input voltage. The input voltage may be scaled down into an appropriate operational voltage range and then the calculated decibel value may be scaled up to compensate for this scaling down.
