    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simply and inexpensively discriminate good bookbinding material from inferior one without providing a weight detection device. SOLUTION: The cutting machine with a thickness detector presses a booklet 20 with a pressing plate 5 by moving a cutter holder 3 downward, and mounts a clipping plate 12 clipping a sample booklet 21 on the surface of the cutter holder 3 of the cutting machine which cuts and aligns the end part of the booklet 20 with an upper cutter 4. The cutting machine mounts the detector 8 which detects the thickness of the booklet 20 by a distance from a head part 6a in cutting at the position opposed to the head part 6a of a pressing shaft 6 on the surface of the clipping plate 12, compares the thickness of the booklet 20 detected by the detector 8 with a reference value of the booklet 20 previously obtained, and discriminates as the booklet having missing pages or excessive pages when they are not matched.     • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vertical collating machine capable of inspecting an image of supplied paper from each paper feed unit without sacrificing a space for paper loading work near a paper loading table.
      SOLUTION: When a collating operation is started, paper feed from the paper feed units 2a-2d is started. When input of paper is detected by output of a double feed detection sensor disposed in each of the paper supply units 2a-2d, the image is started to be taken by image sensors 3a-3d aligned and arranged on a guide surface of a conveyance passage for collation between paper feed units. By comparing the image taken by the image sensors 3a-3d with a reference image, it is detected whether paper having different printing contents or non-printed blank paper is mixed. When imperfect collating occurs, the collating operation is stopped.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paper feeder provided with an air quantity adjusting means of a simple circuit with high safety, hardly receiving adverse influence due to generation of noise.
      SOLUTION: This feeder injects air to an upper side surface of a paper layer of a paper accumulating base 1 to sort a sheet of paper of a surface layer and carries the sorted sheet of paper of the surface layer by sucking the sheet by a suction roller 3. The feeder performs injection and suction of air by an ac blower motor 5 connected to an AC power source 8 via a triac 9a. A gate of the triac 9a is connected to a zero bolt switch circuit 9b.       SOLUTION: This bookbinding device is constituted by folding a paper sheet carried out of a paper supply machine 1 into two parts through a folding machine 2, stacking the paper sheets by one volume of book to bind them by a saddle stitching machine 3, and cutting and aligning end fringes of the stacked, folded, and bound paper sheets by a cutter 5. A change-over gate 4 is arranged between the saddle stitching machine 3 and the cutter 5, and detectors 7, 8, 9 for detecting abnormal stop of folding, stitching, and the cutter are provided. When it is determined that abnormality occurs by the detectors, the change-over gate 4 is sequentially switched to a paper receive base 6 side, and the stacked paper sheets carried out of the saddle stitching machine 3 are delivered onto the paper receive base 6.
