A support structure for an offshore platform comprises non-parallel columnar support members having controllably buoyant sections so that the structure may be floated horizontally and then set vertically on the sea bed The structure is manipulated similarly to that of the parent Specification which has four parallel columnar supports. The embodiment of Fig. 1 has principal support legs 348, 350 and secondary support legs 352, 354 with pontoon sections 360, 362, for supporting the platform 320. In another embodiment the platform 420 is supported by a principal member 448 and secondary members 452, 454 (Fig. 3) having pontoon sections 460, 462. For buoyancy and flooding purposes the former is divided into chambers 492, 494, 496, 498 and the latter into chambers 424, 426 .This structure is floated as in Figs. 4 and 5, turned as in Figs. 7 and 8, lowered as in Fig. 9 and finally secured by piles 432 as in Fig. 2.

    • A lubricating oil composition comprises an oil of lubricating viscosity and, in amounts sufficient to impart detergency thereto, an N-dialkylaminoalkyl monoalkenyl succinimide in which the alkenyl radical contains from 30 to 200 carbon atoms and the dialkylaminoalkyl radical contains from 3 to 10 carbon atoms, and a metal dithiophosphate, the succinimidedithiophosphate mol. ratio being in the range of from 1 : 10 to 6 : 1. The preferred alkenyl substituent is a polymer of a C2 to C5 olefin having a molecular weight of from 420 to 2800. The metal dithiophosphate is a salt of the general formula wherein R and R1 are hydrocarbon radicals totalling 7 to 50 carbon atoms and are preferably dissimilar; M is a divalent metal, e.g. zinc or an alkaline earth. The base oil may be petroleum (naphthenic, paraffin or mixed base), an oil from coal tar, or a synthetic oil such as an alkylene polymer, an alkylene oxide polymer, an ester of a dicarboxylic acid, an ester of an acid of phosphorus, an alkyl benzene, a polyphenyl, an alkyl biphenyl ether or a silicate or siloxene. Numerous examples are given of most of these classes.
