    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vertical slab gel electrophoretic device which can be assembled with an extremely small number of steps, precisely arrange gel to the other part of the device, and ensure the sealing so that the exposed upper edge and lower edge of the gel are sufficiently brought into contact with a proper electrode buffer solution, and the buffer solution is never leaked. SOLUTION: A slab gel in parallel plate gel nipping bodies 12, 13 is arranged in an electrophoretic cell and sealed with high reliability by relatively little manual operation so that the slab gel is sufficiently brought into contact with electrode buffer solutions in the upper and lower parts, and the buffer solution is never leaked. The gel nipping bodies 12, 13 are pressed onto an inner frame 14 to form an upper buffer solution chamber, and the inner frame 14 is inserted into an outer clamp frame 22, wherein the pressure between the gel nipping bodies 12, 13 and the inner frame 14 is kept by a pressure plate 23 operated by cams 24, 25. The clamp frame 14 is put into a tank working as a lower buffer solution chamber.

    • PURPOSE: To provide a device which is available in laboratories, has few moving parts, is high in reliability and accurate, and can reproduce a next gel from a gel. CONSTITUTION: The gradient gel of electrophoresis is manufactured by this device in which a pair of syringes 21, 22 are disposed on a susceptor 12 provided with a synchronously rotating cam 32. Cam trailing parts engaged with the cam 32 are jointed to barrels 23, 24 of the syringes and a spiral path of each cam is transduced into a rate of volume discharged from the syringes 21, 22 by each cam trailing part as the cam 32 rotates. When the discharges from the syringes 21, 22 are compounded into a common stream and directly connected with a housing part of the gel for solidifying the gel, a gradient or other variation in composition is obtained with the rate set by the cam 32. The gradient or variation in the composition is determined by curves of the cam 32 and is independent of the rotation rate of the cam 32 and the uniformity of the rotation. This device is designed as a manually operating device having high accuracy and high reproducability.
