摘要： An image receptor element for the dye diffusion transfer process contains an image-receiving layer, which has increasing dye absorption capacity with increasing distance from the light-sensitive layers. Such an image-receiving layer may be obtained by use of mordants in concentrations which increase with increasing distance from the light-sensitive layers or by use of at least two mordants of different dye absorption capacity, the mordant of higher dye absorption capacity being arranged in a partial layer of the image-receiving layer further away from the light-sensitive layers. Such image receptor elements provide higher dye densities with lower total concentrations of mordants.

摘要： Copolymeric mordant materials containing recurring units according to the following formula are disclosed: ##STR1## In such copolymers, each of R.sup.1, R.sup.2 and R.sup.3 can independently be alkyl; substituted alkyl; cycloalkyl; aryl; aralkyl; alkaryl; or at least two of R.sup.1, R.sup.2 and R.sup.3, together with the quaternary nitrogen atom to which they are bonded, can complete a saturated or unsaturated, substituted or unsubstituted nitrogen-containing heterocyclic ring; and X is an anion. The molar ratio of a:b can range from about 0.1:1 to about 10:1, e.g., about 0.3:1 to about 3:1.The copolymeric mordant materials can be utilized as image-receiving layers and in photographic products and processes of the diffusion transfer type. The mordants are especially adapted to the production of dye images free of objectionable haze, yellowing or related image defects.

摘要： A dye mordant composition comprises the reaction product of (1) a vinyl copolymer derived from ethylenically unsaturated monomers comprising first and second repeating units wherein at least one third of the units are first repeating units represented by the formula: ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 are hydrogen or alkyl and R.sup.2 may be a group containing at least one aromatic nucleus; Q is a divalent radical, R.sup.3, R.sup.4 and R.sup.5 are alkyl or aryl and R.sup.3 and R.sup.4 along with the nitrogen atom and Q may form a quaternized heterocyclic ring, and X.sup.- is an anion and the second repeating units are free of acidic carboxyl groups; and (2) a vinyl polymer crosslinking agent for the copolymer comprising a bisalkane sulfonate or bisarene sulfonate. These compositions are useful as dye mordants in photographic elements.

摘要： A photographic material comprising at least one silver halide emulsion layer and at least one anionic organic compound such as dyes or color couplers and as mordant therefor at least one water soluble or water dispersible cationic polyurethane which has an average molecular weight of 10,000 to 60,000 which contains repeating units, in polymerized form, which are derived from (a) an alkanediol component of which at least 80 mols % is one or more amino containing diols of the formula

AND UP TO 20 MOLS % IS ONE OR MORE DIOLS OF THE FORMULA HO + R3 - OH and (b) a diisocyanate component selected from the group consisting of aliphatic, cycloaliphatic and/or aromatic diisocyanates, but at least 40 mol % must be aliphatic or cycloaliphatic and not more than 20 mols % can be cycloaliphatic; at least 40% of all the tertiary amino groups in the polyurethane being quaternized in in which formulae R1 and R3 the meanings as defined hereinafter. The mordants are photographically inert and may be used with advantages in any photographic layer.
