    • A fuel-air mixture arrangement with an air-compressing supercharger for a combustion engine with continuous fuel injection into the intake pipe which holds an air quantity meter, a pivotal ram flap and a throttle flap are arranged behind each other. The air quantity meter, depending on its deflection, actuates a fuel metering unit. The fuel metering proceeds at constant pressure drop in the fuel. This pressure drop can be varied depending on certain coefficients, and the pressure drop on a valve is varied by a control pressure valve to which controlling variables are applied. The set pressure drop at the metering cross sections of the fuel metering units is kept constant by the valve operated by the control pressure valve. The air quantity meter is located downstream of the air compressing supercharger and the control pressure valve receives the supercharger air pressure prevailing upstream of the throttle flap via a diaphragm unit. The control pressure valve may be connected to a thermostat located in the supercharger air flow.

    • A fuel injection system for externally ignited internal combustion engines in which a fuel metering and distributing valve is controlled by an air sensing element disposed in the air suction tube of the engine and by structure which is adapted to alter the restoring force exerted on the air sensing element through the fuel metering and distributing valve. The noted structure includes a control pressure conduit, a pressure control valve connected to the control pressure conduit and a further conduit for connecting the pressure control valve to the suction tube of the engine downstream of the butterfly valve. With this structure it is possible to alter the restoring force mentioned above so that a properly proportioned fuel-air mixture is achieved, and in particular, so that a properly enriched fuel-air mixture is achieved during full load operation.

    • A fuel injection system for internal combustion engines includes an airflow measuring member which actuates a fuel metering valve assembly. The pressure drop across this valve assembly may be changed by changing the restoring force on the movable control slide therein. The restoring force is provided by pressurized fluid, for example fuel, and the pressure of this fluid can be adjusted by an electro-magnetic pressure modulator, in turn controlled by an electronic controller responsive to engine conditions as sensed by transducers. A pressure limiting valve further influences the control fluid pressure.

    • Fuel control apparatus for dual chamber stratified charge engine systems utilizes a single point fuel control arrangement for the main (lean) air-fuel mixture in combination with a multi-point fuel injection arrangement for the igniting (rich) mixture. The single point and multi-point arrangements may be essentially independent in that they both sense and compute quantity of air flow, respectively, and meter and inject fuel respectively. In an alternate form of the invention, the air flow sensing function of the single point arrangement is used to provide suitable air flow information to the multi-point arrangement and in another alternate form of the invention the fuel flow injection function of the multi-point arrangement is used to provide suitable fuel flow information to the single point arrangement. The alternate forms of the invention reduce the overall complexity of the combined system by interrelating the single point and multi-point arrangements, thereby eliminating component and functional duplicity.

    • A fuel injection system for externally ignited internal combustion engines in which fuel is individually metered to each injection valve through mutually displaceable metering valves. A diaphragm-type pressure valve is disposed between each metering valve and each injection valve. One of these valves is a differential pressure valve, which maintains a constant pressure difference across the metering valve to which it is connected. The remainder of these diaphragm valves are pressure equalizing valves, controlled by the output pressure of the differential pressure valve to maintain the same constant pressure difference across each of the remaining metering valves. The injection valve supplied with fuel by the differential pressure valve, opens at a higher fuel pressure than the remaining injection valves, thus also serving as a pressure valve. Additionally, the pressure setting of the differential pressure valve can be changed, when required, in dependence on a particular engine parameter by other control means.

This structure adjusts the device for regulating the fuel injection quantity so that the starting pressure in the system is retained below the opening pressure of the injection nozzles and above the vapor pressure of the fuel until a quantity of fuel sufficient to replace the quantity of fuel evaporated or leaked due to a temperature gradient in the system resulting from engine cut off has been restored.

A metering valve having a movable part is disposed in the fuel line and coupled to the measuring member. The measuring member actuates the movable part for metering fuel quantity in desired proportion with respect to air quantity. A regulating mechanism, which includes a piston, is actuated in dependence on fuel pressure prevailing downstream from the fuel pump. The piston acts against the force of a spring.
