    • A cooling system is provided for a non-rail off-road vehicle, such as an agricultural tractor having an engine with a horizontally oriented rotation axis and a hood covering the engine. The cooling system includes an engine cooling radiator positioned above the engine and between the engine and the hood and a fan unit with electric motor-driven fans blowing air upwardly through the radiator. The fan unit is positioned above the engine and between the engine and the radiator. An engine charge air cooler is also positioned above the engine and between the engine and the hood, and a charge air cooler fan unit has electric motor-driven fans which blow air upwardly through the cooler. The hood has openings in its upper surface through which passes air blown by the radiator fan unit and the charge air cooler fan unit. This cooling system blows heated cooling air vertically upwardly, thus preventing the heated cooling air from being drawn back into the intakes of the cooling system and preventing heated air from being blown onto the exterior of the tractor cab.

    • A closed evaporative cooling system for an engine includes a water jacket having an opening formed through an upper wall of said engine, a condenser having an upper tank, a bottom plate and condenser tubes, a seat formed around said upside opening for fixing said bottom plate of said condenser thereon, a pressure regulating valve for regulating internal pressure of said upper tank, each of said tube has an upper end penetrating through the bottom wall of said upper tank and brazed or soldered thereto, and a lower end penetrating through said bottom plate and brazed or soldered thereto respectively, and the system further includes a damper pipe for damping the variation of internal pressure of said upper tank, having one end communicated with said upper tank of said condenser fixed on the upper part of said water jacket of said engine and another end communicated with said pressure regulating valve.

    • A dual hinge mounting for both a rotary air screen unit of the blanking type and its associated condenser or other heat-radiating core, and by means of which the screen unit and core may be swung to accessible positions for servicing in situ. The screen unit and core are individually pivoted on separate axes and, in combination with their hinge connections and a connecting strap between them, establish an articulated parallelogram-like linkage arrangement whereby they move in unison to and from their servicing positions. A novel concealed dual latch arrangement which holds the screen unit in its operative position is accessible through a pair of hand holes in the mounting.

    • Simplifying a water circulation structure of a cylinder block and realizing a compact layout of piping connecting an engine body and a radiator.
      A water-cooled internal combustion engine (E) is provided with an engine body including a cylinder block (20) and a cylinder head (21), and a radiator (52). The radiator (52) is disposed separated, in a prescribed direction, i.e. in a rightward direction, from the engine body. A chain chamber (44) which accommodates a transmission mechanism, including a chain, for a valve system is provided in end portions (20e and 21e), which are located rightwardly toward the radiator (52), of the cylinder block (20) and the cylinder head (21), respectively. A cooling water outlet portion (61) open to a cylinder head water jacket (Jh) is provided in the end portion (21e) of the cylinder head (21), the cooling water outlet portion (61) being connected with an inlet pipe (57) for leading the cooling water having flowed out of a cylinder block water jacket into the cylinder head water jacket Jh to the radiator (52). The cooling water outlet portion (61) is disposed rightwardly closer to the radiator (52) than the chain chamber (44).
