    • A rod casing for activating vertically arranged latch bolts, the casing and latch bolts arranged in an active stile of a door and engageable to a door frame. The rod casing provides a vertically slidable actuator cam engageable by both a lock/unlock actuator and a delatch or dogging actuator. The lock/unlock actuator and the delatch actuator are rotatably mounted upon a spindle piece which itself is rotatable by a user such as by a key-activated lock cylinder. The lock-unlock actuator when rotated, slidingly abuts the actuator cam and drives the actuator cam vertically upward to cause unlatching of the latch bolts. The delatch actuator, upon rotation of the spindle piece in an opposite direction underlies the actuator cam and dogs the actuator cam in its vertically risen position. A panic exit device is also provided which has a lift plate mounted fixedly to the rod slide, the lift plate liftable by a pivoting of a lift lever, the lift lever pivoted by a lateral thrusting of a push plate slidably held beneath a push pad of the panic exit device. When compressed by a user, the push pad compresses two motion actuators housed beneath the push pad which laterally translate the push plate toward the lift lever. A spring loaded panic exit device dogging mechanism is also provided.

    • An emergency release latch for releasibly locking a protective closure, such as a window grill, in closed position over an opening in a building structure to prevent intruders from entering the structure through the opening and yet permit escape of persons from the structure through the opening in the event of a fire or other emergency. The latch is relativey immune to improper installation and tampering, releases automatically in response to a fire in the immediate vicinity of the escape opening and in response to breaking of the latch actuator, is reliable in operation over long periods of time without servicing, is easily releasible by young, handicapped, and elderly persons, and is secure against forced entry when engaged.

    • The present invention is an electric security lock which not only provides an alarm signal to an alarm device, but which also has a push bar emergency release. The electric security lock includes a dead bolt, a frame adapted to slideably receive the dead bolt, a cover plate coupled to the frame for holding the dead bolt in place, a pair of cams coupled to the dead bolt and adapted to move the dead bolt in a lateral direction, a locking cylinder coupled to each of the cams, and an electric activating apparatus coupled to the dead bolt. The electric activating apparatus includes a circular latch member pivotally mounted and spring coupled to the dead bolt, a metal bar with a first end and a second end having a square hole disposed midway between the first and second holes, the first end of the metal bar is adapted to be coupled and uncoupled mechanically to the circular latch member, and a micro electronic switch mechanically coupled to the square hole of the bar and electrically coupled to an alarm device. The electric security lock also includes an emergency release mechanism which activates the circular latch member and which has a device for retracting the dead bolt from its projected position and a device for deactivating the electric activating apparatus when an appropriate key is used, mechanically coupled to the retracting device.
