    • A method of increasing the toughness of heat-affected part of multilayer welded joint, lap fillet welded joint or one or more pass high heat input welded joint with respect to steel products. In particular, a method of increasing the toughness of heat- affected part of steel product welded joint, characterized in that beating by means of ultrasonic vibration terminal or shot-peening by means of ultrasonic vibration steel balls is applied to the surface of heat-affected part formed by final pass of steel product multilayer welded joint, so that in a metal structure adjacent to fusion line (FL) of welded metal and host metal at the heat-affected part formed by final pass, the average of major diameters of crystals lying in the zone from steel product surface to depth of 2 mm or more becomes equal to the crystal grain diameter of host metal before welding at a depth of 1/4 of sheet thickness (t) from the steel product surface.

    • A manually steerable machine for scabbling areas which are relatively inaccessible to larger machines is disclosed. Three pneumatically operable piston and cylinder assemblies with bits are mounted on a plate which is mounted in vertically movable relationship on a frame, the assemblies being disposed at the apices of a triangle, one of the apices being at the forward end of the frame and the other apices being rearwardly of the one of the apices. A tiltable handle extends from the rear end of the frame and upwardly from the frame and includes an air manifold and an air valve for supplying compressed air to the assemblies through hoses. A pair of wheels at the rear of the frame support the frame when the pistons are not operating. A skid plate is attached to the bottom of the frame, and the bits are encircled by a flexible skirt extending downwardly from the frame. A vacuum hose connector has its lower end at the bottom of the frame and between the bits to collect dust.

    • An electrically-operated multi-needle chisel tool including a housing having a front portion and a rear portion. An electric motor is mounted in the rear portion. A cylinder extends forwardly from the front portion of the housing. A piston is disposed in said cylinder for reciprocable linear motion which is converted from the rotary motion of the motor. The piston includes a base portion and a reduced diameter shaft portion extending forwardly from the base portion. A hollow generally cylindrical hammer is axially slidably fitted over the fore end portion of the shaft portion of the piston in opposed relation to the anvil. A buffer compression spring is disposed around the shaft portion between the base portion of the piston and the rear end of the hammer.
