    • The present invention relates to a silver halide color photographic material, which contains a novel yellow coupler of formula (I) in at least one hydrophilic colloid layer which is provided on a support, ##STR1## where R.sup.1 represents a non-metallic atomic group necessary for forming a 5-membered unsaturated hetero ring together with a residue of ##STR2## in the formula; R.sup.2 represents a hydrogen atom, an aliphatic group, an aromatic group, or a heterocyclic group; R.sup.3 represents an organic residue; X represents a group capable of splitting off from the formula when the compound has reacted with the oxidation product of an aromatic primary amine developing agent; A represents an acidic dissociating group which may be at any substitutable position in the formula; and n represents an integer of 1 or more; provided that when A is a substituent in X, the X as split off from the formula when the compound has reacted with the oxidation product of a developing agent does not further react with the oxidation product of the developing agent. The coupler has an high dye-forming speed to form a dye with a high color density and a high color fastness, and the photographic material containing the coupler is processed to form a color image with an improved sharpness, an elevated sensitivity and an elevated color fastness.
