    • Disclosed is a caption printer (1) for imprinting captions on a film (2) by pressing each cut of the film on a copperplate (3), in which the copperplates are automatically dispensed, carried, and stored. The caption printer has a dispenser casing (10) containing a plurality of copperplates (3) stored in the dispenser casing in such an order as to be automatically dispensed one by one according to a predetermined program. A clamping section (30) of the caption printer clamps and locates the copperplates (3) one by one at an exact position under the film (2) and a pressing plate (13) for pressing the film on the copperplate. A carrying section (20) and a supplying section (40) carry each of the copperplates dispensed from the dispenser casing (10) to the clamping section (30), and also carry each of the copperplates from the clamping section to a storing position (11) after using the copperplates in imprinting the caption on the film.

    • A virtually transparent magnetic layer is included as an additional layer in a color negative film. Information exchange between various users of the film -such as the camera user, the dealer, photofinisher and film-to-video printer- is carried via plural longitudinal magnetic tracks on the film, each track being dedicated to the writing and reading of a predetermined set of related parameters. The photofinisher-dedicated track locations fill the exposed image area of each frame. The camera tracks lie along the edges of the film between the film perforations, the perforations being widely spaced for this purpose. All data, such as cropping, zooming, rotating or character superposition instructions, is recorded as individual pieces of information identified by virtual data identifiers to enable the film-to-video printer to quickly access and execute such instructions by altering the video signal produced from each frame of the developed film.
