    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control technology for reducing the wavelength dependence on the wavelength dispersion value of a VIPA-type chromatic dispersion compensation device and for suppressing the variation in passing wavelength characteristic accompanying a temperature variation or the like. SOLUTION: The VIPA-type chromatic dispersion compensation device is composed by being provided with: a VIPA plate 1 which emits incident light into different directions according to the wavelength; a free-curved face mirror 7 which reflects light having respective wavelengths emitted from the VIPA plate 1 at a predetermined position and returns the light to the VIPA plate 1; a case 8 which is furnished with a heater which varies the temperature of the VIPA plate 1; temperature sensors 9a and 9b which measure the temperature of the VIPA plate 1 and the temperature of ambient environment; and a control part 10 which reads the data which is stored in a memory part 11, by measuring before the operation, according to the measured results of the temperature sensors 9a and 9b, and optimizes the position of the free-curved face mirror 7 and the temperature of the VIPA plate 1 on the basis of the read-out data.
