    • A gripper head of a weaving machine has a clamping device for clamping a band-shaped weft material to be inserted into a loom shed of the weaving machine. The clamping device includes a stationary clamping jaw and a movable clamping jaw that is loaded by a spring and movable about a rotation axis. Each clamping jaw respectively has a clamping surface. The movable clamping jaw is actuatable by a control device to open the clamping device. The gripper head includes a frame, and the clamping surfaces are arranged essentially outside of the frame, but the spring and the rotation axis are arranged inside the frame.

    • A device (1) for transferring a preferably band-shaped weft material (6) from a feed unit to an insertion element (4) of a weaving machine comprises a clamping device (5) for clamping a free end (E) of the weft material (6). The clamping device (6) is conveyable essentially in the direction (BR) of motion of the insertion element (4) between at least two different operating positions. The device (1) includes a drive (8) for conveying the clamping device (5). In a method for transferring a preferably band-shaped weft material (6) from a bobbin or a feed unit to an insertion element (4) of a weaving machine, a free end (E) of the weft material (6) is clamped in a clamping device (5), the free end (E) is transferred to the insertion element (4), and then the clamping device (5) is opened and the weft material is inserted. The clamping device (5) is conveyed by means of a drive (8) essentially in the direction of motion of the insertion element (4) between at least two different operating positions.

    • A yarn positioning apparatus for use in an automated seaming machine for forming a woven join between opposite ends of a length of woven fabric, of the type in which an auxiliary strip of threads are supported in parallel relation to the cross machine direction threads in the woven fabric. The opposite ends of the fabric are supported on opposite sides of the auxiliary threads and each end of the woven fabric includes a fringe of machine direction (MD) threads. The MD threads are successively separated from the fringe and interwoven with the auxiliary thread to form the join. The yarn positioning apparatus is comprised of a yarn gripper for gripping a previously woven yarn from a fabric fringe in a first orientation and repositioning it to a second orientation. The yarn is retained in its second orientation as it is translated for further processing.
