摘要： An apparatus (11) for decorating an object (O) with a heat transfer label. In use, an infeed conveyor (27) delivers the object (O) into the turret (13). The turret (13) rotatably advances the object (O) to the transfer station (21) where the label transfer system (19) transfers the label onto the object (O). Upon completion of the decoration of the object (O), the turret (13) rotatably advances the labeled object (OL) to the post-treatment station (25). At the post-treatment station (25), the labeled object (OL) is inflated with air and the contact heater (23) is displaced laterally into selective contact with the labeled object (OL). Upon completion of the post-treatment of the labeled object (OL), the turret (13) rotatably advances the labeled object (OL) to an outfeed conveyor which delivers the labeled object (OL) away from the turret (13).

摘要： The invention relates to a transfer label comprising a backing layer and a transfer layer which is releasably attached to the backing layer. The transfer layer comprises an ink layer and on each side of the ink layer a top and bottom containment layer. The top and bottom containment layer contact one another outside the perimeter of the ink layer to form a closed envelop around the ink layer. The transfer label according to the present invention can be applied to a container such as a crate and can be easily removed therefrom in a washing process without the ink dissolving in the wash liquid.

The items, such as bottles, have a contoured surface. The applicator includes a supply reel for supplying labels on a web and a take-up for taking up the web after transfer of the label. A drive roller moves the web through the applicator system. The system includes a web positioning assembly and a movable label applicator head. A contour sensor senses the bottle contour and develops a profile for the head to follow to apply the labels to the bottles. The supply, take-up and the drive are operably engaged with one another to maintain a relatively constant tension in the web. The web positioning assembly is configured to advance and retract the web to accommodate a pitch difference between the bottles in the bottle transport and the labels on the web and to accommodate movement of the decorating head toward and away from the bottles in the bottle transport.
