    • The sponge production process consists of heating a mould of Teflon or silicone to a temperature between 60° C. and 70° C., feeding a mixture comprising a plastic material and a reagent into the mould, allowing the mixture to rise for a time less than 30 minutes, and extracting the finished sponge from the mould. In this manner an absorbent sponge is obtained without an impermeable surface skin. The plant comprises a conveyor for conveying a mould to mould heating means, followed by feeding means. The plant then comprises rising means arranged to retain the mould for a time such that the mixture contained in the mould undergoes rising, followed by means for discharging the sponge.

    • A process for preparing a multilayered foam article such as an automotive seat is disclosed. A mold is arranged so that the bottom surface of the mold is flat or inclined up to 40 degrees to the horizontal plane. The first liquid foam formulation designed to produce a soft foam is poured into the mold from a mixing head outlet strip-wise across the seating zone of the mold along the line parallel to but near the external wall of the seating zone of the mold. Then, the second liquid foam formulation designed to produce a hard foam is poured into the mold from the same or different mixing head outlet strip-wise across the seating zone of the mold along the line parallel to but nearer to the external wall of the mold than the line of pouring of the first liquid foam formulation. The second liquid foam formulation is then allowed to spread on top of the first liquid foam formulation, the mold is closed and the foames are allowed to rise and cure in the mold. The process produces an article having excellent layered-foam seating area.

    • This invention relates to a process for manufacturing cushion and mattress elements made of supple, open-cell cellular matter, by casting into a mould, from a head ensuring mixture of at least two basic components, of the product thus formed; said mould is transferred from a preparation station where a demoulding agent is projected, to be presented beneath said head; the latter is displaced along a continuous path covering at least all the surface of the mould and at a speed ensuring, on the one hand, a uniform distribution of the product and, on the other hand, a total time of passage less than the maximum expansion time of the product projected at the beginning of this path; a cover is closed on said mould, and the latter is transferred towards standby stations where it remains thus for a time longer than that of maturing of the cellular matter obtained; the cushion element thus constituted is removed and the mould is transferred back towards the preparation station.
