摘要： By using a hydraulic forming device 20, a metal plate body 11 is placed on a support section 21b with a hollow section 21a formed on a lower die 21 filled with hydraulic fluid A. Subsequently, a blank holder 23 is lowered to clamp the peripheral edge section of the placed metal plate body 11 with the support section 21b. Then, the upper die 22 is lowered relative to the lower die 21 to pressedly deform the central section of the metal plate body 11 and to compress the hydraulic fluid A to increase the fluid pressure. A rib-like convex section 12 is transferred onto the metal plate body 11 by the increased fluid pressure of the hydraulic fluid A and a formed section 22a. Further, the fluid pressure of the hydraulic fluid A is kept for a predetermined time. Then, the increased fluid pressure of the hydraulic fluid A is released.

摘要： A hydroforming apparatus includes an upper platen carrying an upper die section and a lower platen carrying a lower die section. The platens are connected together by tie rods extending through respective compression tubes. The upper and lower die sections have recessed areas formed therein that define a die cavity. When the lower die section is moved to a lowered position, a workpiece can be disposed in the recessed area formed therein. Then, the lower die section and the workpiece are elevated by cylinders such that the workpiece is enclosed within the die cavity and mechanically deformed by the cooperated upper and lower die sections. A support block is then moved between the hydroforming die and the lower platen. A cylinder array containing a plurality of pistons is next hydraulically actuated so as to securely clamp the hydroforming die between the cylinder array and the lower platen. While the cylinder array is actuated, pressurized fluid is supplied within the workpiece, deforming it into conformance with the die cavity.

摘要： For forming or consolidating organic matrix composites, for example, an organic matrix composite panel is sealed between sheets of a susceptor material that is susceptible to induction heating. The susceptor sheets are heated inductively. The sheets in turn conduct heat to the organic matrix composite panel. When heated to the desired temperature, the composite panel is consolidated and/or formed. In the present invention, the susceptor sheets are selected so that their magnetic permeability decreases to unity at approximately the desired operating temperature thereby limiting heating to this "Curie temperature" and providing substantial uniformity of temperature in the panel. Of course, the concept applies to other induction heating operations for metals including SPF, brazing, annealing, heat treating, bonding, hot pressing, and the like.

摘要： An impervious metal sheet is placed on top of a pair of flat grid blanks which are clamped together at their edges. An elastic sheet contacts the bottom grid blank, and a second impervious metal sheet is inserted between the two grid blanks if the grids have high percentage open areas. All of the blanks and sheets are dished simultaneously by forcing fluid to inflate the elastic sheet. The dished grids are also stress relieved simultaneously.

摘要： A sheet metal blank is clamped between opposed annular members and deformed in its central area by fluid pressure applied thereto. The clamping members are urged together by the same fluid pressure; and to this end, one of the clamping members is mushroom-shaped with the head of the mushroom comprising a piston urged in a clamping direction by fluid pressure applied by an annular cylinder chamber that communicates with a central chamber whose fluid deforms the blank. In this way, the annular marginal portions of the blank are tightly gripped and only the central exposed portion of the blank is deformed.
