摘要： Composite orthopedic devices that facilitate spine stabilization, such as: bone screws, rods, plates, interbodies, and corpectomy cages are disclosed. They are designed to provide both strength and load carrying capabilities, while increasing bio-integration of the devices with the surrounding bone tissue. They are constructed of composite layers of allograft and/or autograft bone and a structural material, such as titanium alloy or carbon/graphite fiber composite. Cannulations within the device are loaded with a mixture of stem cells, particles of allograft and/or autograft bone, and bone growth factors, such as BMP-2. The cannulations are connected to the surface of the device via multiple fenestrations that provide pathways to supply the bone/stem cell mixture to the surface, allowing living bone tissue to grow and insure bio-integration. The devices can also have radiofrequency (RF) stimulation implantation within the structure of the implanted device, capable of responding to external RF stimulation of enhanced bone growth.

摘要： An apparatus for forming a flowable material against a prosthetic implant can comprise a mold body having an outer surface and an inner surface. The inner surface can define a mold cavity that is selectively configured to at least partially accept the prosthetic implant in a forming position. An inlet port can be configured on the mold cavity that extends between the inner and outer surfaces. The mold cavity can substantially conform to a profile of a bone opposing surface of the prosthetic implant such that a void is created between the inner surface of the mold body and the bone opposing surface of the prosthetic implant. The inlet port can be configured to permit introduction of the flowable material into the void and against the bone opposing surface of the prosthetic implant.

The shroud includes a hub, a rim, and at least one bridge connecting the hub and the rim. The rim of the shroud may be sized to cover substantially the same area as a guard of the implant. The method of utilizing the shroud involves securing the shroud to the prosthetic implant. A quantity of adhesive is provided, and the prosthetic implant is secured thereto. The shroud is removed from the implant, and then the guard is secured to the implant.

摘要： A stem for an endoprosthesis to be anchored in a bone (3) comprises a chamber (4) which surrounds the stem periprosthetically, which can be sealed in a pressure tight manner and which can be expanded with a thermoplastic or thermostable filling material (16). The rigid stem (1) of the endoprosthesis is connected mechanically to the bone (3) via the expandable chamber (4) by means of the filling material (16). The filling material is isolated from the bone (3), however, by the wall of the pressure-tight chamber (4). This makes it possible to ensure that the outer wall of the chamber (4) adjacent to the bone is extremely biocompatible.
