Vinyl chloride is polymerized at 30-70‹ C. in the presence of 0À1-5% by wt. of total monomers of a C 10 -C 22 alpha-olefin added prior to the start of the reaction. Suspension or emulsion technique is used. The addition of the olefin causes polymerization to proceed at a uniform rate.

摘要： A hot-melt coating composition comprises (a) a polyolefin and (b) 20 to 70% by weight of a dipentene polymer having a softening point in the range of 70 DEG to 140 DEG C. Suitable polyolefins include homopolymers of ethylene, propylene, and butylene, and copolymers of ethylene or propylene with each other or with other ethylenically unsaturated monomers many of which are listed. The compositions may also contain anti-static agents, high-melting waxes, antioxidants, dyes, pigments, and lubricants. Compositions exemplified are dipentene homopolymers with an ethylene/vinyl acetate copolymer and microcrystalline wax, and dipentene homopolymers with polyethylene. The compositions may be applied to paper, paperboard, cloth, regenerated cellulose film, aluminium foil, and polyolefin films.ALSO:A hot-melt coating composition for coating paper, paperboard, cloth, regenerated cellulose film, aluminium foil, and polyolefin films, comprises (a) a polyolefin and (b) 20% to 70% by weight of a dipentene polymer having a softening point in the range of 70 DEG C. to 140 DEG C. Suitable polyolefins include homopolymers of ethylene, propylene and butylene, and copolymers of ethylene or propylene with each other or with other ethylenically unsaturated monomers many of which are listed.
