    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high-efficiency permanent magnet motor with a low eddy current loss by filling, solidifying a magnetic material in the form of liquid into separate cavities within a rotor.
      SOLUTION: An armature 12 for use in an electric traction motor includes a rotor 14 having a middle part and a peripheral part having a plurality of cavities. Permanent magnets solidified from liquid magnetic materials are disposed within the cavities so as to form the poles of the rotor 14, and at least one part of the cavities has permanent magnets directly abutting against each other being composed of at least a first and a second magnetic materials with different properties filled in the form of liquid or having fluidity within a single cavity. The first and the second magnetic materials are mixed to form transition zone within the boundary zone between at least the first and the second magnetic materials 40, 42. A method for manufacturing the armature includes the steps of filling simultaneously magnetic materials, and filling subsequent magnetic materials when the first magnetic materials still has fluidity on fluid basis.
