    • A receiver restores a transmitted information bit series accurately by performing maximum-likelihood series estimation. The operation of the receiver includes estimating characteristics of a transmission line for each symbol based on the amplitude and phases of pilot symbols which are extracted from reception symbol groups, calculating weighting factors showing the reliability of the transmission line in symbols based on the estimation result and the reception symbol groups, multiplying each symbol of information symbol groups which are extracted from the reception symbol groups by the weighting factors to reflect the transmission-line reliability in symbols, and restoring an information bit series by applying maximum-likelihood series estimation to coded bit groups restored from the information symbol groups on which the reliability is reflected.

    • In a filter device a reference clock generator produces a reference clock signal having the stated frequency; a data signal generator generates a data signal which is asynchronous with the reference clock signal; trigger signal generator produces a trigger signal when a discrepancy which exceeds the interval of one clock of the reference signal occurs between the reference clock signal and the data signal; and a digital circuit re-samples the data signal in accordance with the reference clock signal and changes the magnification ratio of the re-sampling by increasing or reducing the sampling period of re-sampling by one clock interval of the reference signal. By changing the magnification ratio of the re-sampling on only the occasion of such a timing that a temporal discrepancy between the reference signal and the data signal has been detected, it can correct the temporal discrepancy which is due to the fact that the frequencies of the reference signal and the data signal are asynchronous with each other and can prevent spectral distortion of the transmission signal, and also it can utilize the reference signal, which is asynchronous with the data signal, for production of the transmission signal without any trouble.

    • Communication stations in a network each transmit a beacon signal that includes network information. The beacon signal sets a state in which a reception operation is performed, before and after the transmission of the beacon signal. The reception operation occurs during access control, so as to avoid collision with communication timings of packets from another communication station, by detecting signals transmitted from other communication stations. States set in the communication stations are transitioned between a transmission state and a reception state based on a fluctuating volume of transmission and reception data. Data accumulations at transmitting communication stations and delays at receiving communication stations are reduced, and low latency data transfer is achieved using minimal levels of transmission and reception operations.
