摘要： Disclosed is a variable-magnification copying machine which provides means for easily performing copying operations using variable magnifications against the desired copying paper from either a standard or an off-standard size draft paper.The preferred embodiment provides means for automatically setting the magnification by first manually inputting data denoting the length of the horizontal and vertical edges of the draft paper, followed by computing the ratio between the horizontal and vertical lengths by applying the input length data of the draft paper and the preset size of the available copying paper so that the smaller ratio produced from the computation can be eventually set as the correct magnification.

摘要： The present invention prevents a third party's unauthorized use by rendering a image processing apparatus having a security function undistinguishable from an image processing apparatus without a security function. In a copy mode, the image processing apparatus reads image data of a copy and stores inputted image data in a hard disk drive. The image processing apparatus prints the image data. Once the printing is finished, the image data is erased by operation of the security function. In this case, a disguise section makes a disguise to look as if the security function is not provided by not indicating that the image data is being erased on an operation screen.

A document with images recorded on both sides is automatically fed, and the images on the front side and the backside are individually read. Image data for each side is stored in memory. Two judgment sections judge whether the images on the front side and the backside are a specific image, respectively. If the image on either side is judged to be the specific image, copying is inhibited. The reading of the document is stopped, and subsequent copy operations are canceled.

摘要： A data-processing system consisting of a portable terminal device and a copying machine can effectively work with protection against breakage of data stored in the terminal device. The data-processing system is constructed to work on the following principle: When a given period is measured by a timer for starting the power saving mode, a portable terminal device provides a copying machine with a signal informing of starting the power-saving mode. The copying machine, which received the power-saving-mode starting signal, provides in later the portable terminal device a signal requiring the terminal to cancel the power-saving-mode. When a given period is measured by a timer for starting the power saving mode, the copying machine provides the portable terminal device with a signal requiring the terminal device to start the power-saving mode. A CPU, which received information on request of power-saving-mode, executes the power saving mode. The portable terminal device and the copying machine as the former being mounted on the latter can simultaneously execute the power saving mode, preliminarily sheltering data in the storage.
