    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vacuum cleaner with high dust collecting performance capable of surely storing once collected dust and suppressing outflow of the dust.SOLUTION: The vacuum cleaner 1 includes: a hollow centrifugal separation part 36 roughly in a truncated cone shape, for generating a swirl flow SF and separating air and dust; a freely detachable dust collecting part 37 separately positioned in a direction crossing the center line C of the centrifugal separation part 36, for collecting and storing the dust; an outward pipe 41 for connecting the bottom surface 38 of a smaller area of the two bottom surfaces of the centrifugal separation part 36 and the dust collecting part 37 and leading the dust from the centrifugal separation part 36 to the dust collecting part 37; a homeward pipe 43 for connecting a homeward port 42 provided on the extension line of the center line C of the centrifugal separation part 36 and opened on a pipe wall of the outward pipe 41 and the dust collecting part 37 and returning the air from the dust collecting part 37 to the centrifugal separation part 36; and an exhaust pipe 47 connected to a separation part exit 46 opened at the almost center of the bottom surface 45 of a larger area of the two bottom surfaces of the centrifugal separation part 36, while facing the homeward port 42.

The dust collection device includes a second centrifugal separator for centrifugally separating dust that is finer than the dust separated by the first centrifugal separator 41, the second centrifugal separator being communicated with the first centrifugal separator 41. The first centrifugal separator 41 has a case body 51 capable of storing dust. The first centrifugal separator 41 has, inside the case 51, a cylindrical spin unit 52 for spinning dust-containing air between the case body 51 and the spin unit. The spin unit 52 is provided, at its periphery, with a peripheral opening 65 communicated with the second centrifugal separator, and includes an end opening 74 at an end thereof, the end opening being communicated with the second centrifugal separator. The first centrifugal separator 41 has a compression filter 54 provided in the end opening 74.
