    • PURPOSE:To stop the spread of information bits with the wall surface of guide grooves and to suppress generation of crosstalks by increasing the geometric depth of the guide grooves to a specific value and steepening the inclination of the wall surfaces of said grooves. CONSTITUTION:The guide grooves 5 for detecting the deviation of a microspot from the center of information recording tracks 4 are formed on the surface of a substrate 1 and an information recording medium 2 is formed by vapor deposition, etc., on the surface of the substrate 1. The depth of the grooves 5 in the case of an information recording carrier which is transparent in the substrate material on the side to be irradiated with light and has a refractive index (n) is confined to (2N+1)lambda/8n (N=1, 2..., lambda is the wavelength of the irradiation light). The wall surfaces 5a of the grooves 5 are formed to the steepened angle of inclination and the medium 2 is interrupted at the wall surfaces 5a and, therefore, heat transmission stops at the wall surfaces 5a. The edges in the tracking direction of the recording bits are limited by the grooves 5 in such a manner, by which the generation of the crosstalks by an increase in the recording bits is obviated and the larger margin for the power of the recording laser is taken.

    • PURPOSE:To improve the S/N of a reproducing signal by recording a data representing the property of a recording medium in a form of a pit longer in the track direction of the recording medium according to the phase encode modulation rule and in a form of phase pit. CONSTITUTION:In recording a data representing the property of a recording medium onto a control track, it is recorded by the modulation system of phase encode in a form of a pit longer in a direction of a control track. That is, servo byte 1 and a long hole pit 2 are recorded on the control track in the sample servo according to the modulation system of phase encode. In case of the sample servo, it differs from the continuous servo, since the generation of a tracking error signal is according to a wobble pit, even it a Phase Encoded part (PEP) is a long hole, no effect is given onto the tracking servo. The reproducing amplitude of the reproducing signal obtained by reproducing the control track formed in this way is remarkably larger and the S/N is improved.
