    • A bi-directional detector which enables a host and a client in a collection terminal is disclosed. The bi-directional detector includes a client detection unit in the host part, for detecting the clients connected to the host part; a client identification unit for identifying types of the clients detected by the client detection unit; a host detection unit in each of the clients for detecting the host part; and a switch unit in each of the clients for determining whether to apply comparison power to the client detection unit and the host detection unit according to whether power is applied to the client. In the bi-directional detector, the client directly detects the host part and manages the connection, thereby reducing the load on the host part, without performing a step by which a host part responds to a connection request of a client.

    • An apparatus for and a method of correcting an error using a low density parity check (LDPC) matrix. A resultant matrix is generated by performing XOR and modular 2 operations with respect to the LDPC matrix and a code word vector and a number of 1 bits in the resultant matrix is detected. If the number of 1 bits and a column weight of the LDPC matrix are equal, a column of the LDPC matrix having bit values corresponding to bit values of the resultant matrix, respectively, is identified and the codeword is corrected by changing a binary value of a bit of the code word vector having a bit number corresponding to the identified column number. Otherwise the error correction is terminated without correcting the error.

    • A mechanism for extending and retracting an antenna in a portable phone. A driving motor is provided and has a motor shaft around which a worm is fit, a worm gear is engaged with the worm of the motor shaft, and a pulley arrangement is provided which includes a roller shaft which connects the worm gear to a first pulley roller, a timing belt that transfers the force of the first pulley roller to a second pulley roller. A driving roller and a driven roller receive the force from the second pulley roller, and an antenna rod is disposed between the driving and driven rollers, to be extended/retracted by the driving and driven rollers. A first main bracket is provided which has a space for holding the driving motor, a first free end for supporting the worm gear, and a second free end for supporting the driving roller. A second main bracket is also provided which has an engaging end to be engaged with the first main bracket and a guide rib for supporting the driving motor, and a sub-bracket is connected to the second main bracket for supporting the driven roller downward.
