    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a global navigation satellite system (GNSS), which can determine a position location for a mobile station based on satellite signals sent from two or more satellite systems, rather than just one satellite system.SOLUTION: A first and a second navigation satellite system (NSS) operate according to a first and a second specification, respectively. First and second plural SVs (satellite vehicles) are identified by first and second plural unique corresponding identifications (IDs), respectively. A processor receives and identifies first plural corresponding signals transmitted from the first plural SVs in response to the first plural unique corresponding IDs. The processor receives and identifies a second plural corresponding signals transmitted from the second plural SVs in response to the second plural unique corresponding IDs. The processor determines position location information in response to receiving and identifying the first plural corresponding signals and the second plural corresponding signals.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an HSDPA system with reduced inter-user interference.
      SOLUTION: In a wireless network (100) using user equipment devices (130) corresponding to HSDPA, a base transceiver station (120) transmits to each UE corresponding to HSDPA information regarding allocation of HSDPA codes and associated modulation techniques for other UEs corresponding to HSPDA. Using this additional control information, each UE configures a decision feedback filter of its equalizer to reduce inter-user interference. The additional control information may be transmitted in a packet (300) that includes a CRC portion (310) with the packet's CRC masked by a common ID, which is known to the UE corresponding to HSDPA. To reduce the number of bits needed to transmit the additional control information, the HSDPA codes used with a particular modulation technique are allocated consecutively. For each modulation technique, only the beginning code and the total number of codes need be known to the UE. The number of codes used with each modulation technique may be allowed to change once in several TTIs.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system and method for acquiring signal acquisition assistance data. SOLUTION: The signal acquisition assistance data is acquired for receiving devices, such as wireless position assisted location devices seeking signals from any source, such as satellite vehicles and base stations. The data may be acquired from previously acquired data, based on evaluation of changes in parameters, such as time and location that may jeopardize validity. Refined data may be calculated by a receiver using partial measurements of signal sets, particularly if the acquisition assistance data provided by a remote entity includes more distinct parameters than have typically been provided. New data need not be acquired until the validity of previous data expires due to limitations upon temporal extrapolation using Doppler coefficients, unless mobile station movement that cannot be compensated is detected, and jeopardizes validity of the previous data.
