摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the method and device for positioning the connecting surface angle of optical parts by which the optical loss in the connecting surface of the optical parts connected to an optical fiber can be reduced by positioning the angle of the connecting surface of the optical fiber and the angle of the connecting surface of an optical fiber guide to a desired angle. SOLUTION: The connecting surface 3A of the optical fiber 3 projecting from the connecting surface 5A of the optical fiber guide 5 is photographed by the image pickup means 9 provided orthogonally to the optical axis L of the optical fiber 3 and in parallel to the connecting surface 5A of the optical fiber guide 5. The image photographed by the image pickup means 9 is processed with an image processing means, the outside dimension of the specified position in the connecting surface 3A of the optical fiber 3 is abstracted, the deviation angle around the optical axis L of the optical fiber 3 is calculated with an arithmetic means from the outside dimension, the optical fiber 3 is rotated by an optical fiber rotating mechanism 7, and whereby the angles of both connecting surfaces 3A, 5A are set to a desired angle.

摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hybrid plane type optical circuit low in cost and having high function by connecting different kinds of optical circuit(PLC) by an easy method. SOLUTION: A 1st PLC 11 and a 2nd PLC 12 which is different in kind from the PLC 11 are connected. The PLCs 11 and 12 are provided with at least two optical waveguides 15 for connection separately from an optical waveguide 16. In the process for connecting the PLCs 11 and 12 to each other, the PLCs 11 and 12 are aligned with each other by using at least two optical waveguides 15 for connection which are provided to them, so the both are easily connected. The PLC 12 has a return structure of the optical waveguide 16. Because of this return structure, a multi-unit optical fiber (optical fiber for light input and output) 14 can be arranged for only the PLC 11.

摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily and precisely connect an optical waveguide and an optical fiber and to automatize connection by using the light receiving unit of a large diameter for monitoring output from an optical waveguide circuit. SOLUTION: In the connection method of the optical waveguide and the optical fiber, which are formed on a plane substrate, the light receiving unit 34 having the light-receiving area of more than a waveguide pattern width is provided at the first end part of the waveguide circuit 33. Laser beams are made incident on the optical fiber and an optical fiber block is brought near the optical waveguide circuit 33. The optical fiber block 32 is moved at random while the output of the light receiver 34 is monitored, and a position where the intensity of outgoing light becomes a maximum is searched. When cores are matched, output light is concentrated on a light receiving unit 34. Thus, output becomes low when the peak position of clad light is aligned compared with the case when the core is aligned. Thus, the case when light is made incident on the core can be discriminated from the case except for the above case by setting a threshold value in the output of light receiving interception.
