    • A sealing member for sealing an opening of a container is provided with a sealing face facing contents in the container. This sealing face is formed into a shape without being externally exposing during an unsealing operation of the sealing member. The container can include the opening sealed with the sealing member, and a seal taking-out hole for taking out the sealing member when the opening is unsealed. A sealing member can include a leader for pinching the sealing member when the sealing member is peeled off from the container, and the leader can be inserted through the seal taking-out hole so that an opening sealing-face of the sealing member is bent inside when the unsealing operation of the sealing member is performed. A convex protrusion having a shape such that a face of the sealing member can be bent can be mounted on the seal taking-out hole. The sealing member for sealing an opening of the container can be formed into a cylindrical shape with a flexible material, and a part of an outer peripheral face of the sealing member seals the opening.

    • A device incorporated in an electrophotographic image recorder for collecting toner particles, paper dust and so on which are removed from a photoconductive element by a cleaning device. The collecting device is constructed independently of the cleaning device. In a portion where the collecting device and cleaning device are connected to each other, a first and a second shutter which open and close respectively an opening formed through the cleaning device and an opening formed through the collecting device cooperate with each other. When the collecting device is connected to the cleaning device, the second shutter unblocks the associated opening before the first shutter does so. Conversely, when the collecting device is disconnected from the cleaning device, the second shutter blocks the associated opening after the first shutter has done so.

    • A compact laser printer has an up-side down arrangement of components within a machine housing. That is, an optical writing unit is disposed below a rotatably supported photosensitive drum and an image transferring unit is disposed above the photosensitive drum with a developing unit disposed substantially in a side-by-side relationship with the photosensitive drum. A paper feed cassette is located below the optical writing unit when detachably set in position and a paper transportation path extends from the supply end of the paper feed cassette around the developing unit generally in the shape of "U." The machine housing has a pivotally movable portion which may be pivotted open and closed. The photosensitive drum and/or one of a pair of registration rollers may be mounted on the pivotally movable portion.
