摘要： PURPOSE: To improve limited voltage ratio characteristics by a method wherein the electrode material, containing at least an organic metal compound selected from aluminum, indium, gallium and germanium, is diffused into an element from the surface of a fired varistor element. CONSTITUTION: The mixture, formed by kneading an aluminum organic metal compound into silver paste, is used as electrode material. First, silver paste is obtained by kneading 5.0wt.% lead borosilicate glass first, 65.0wt.% silver power and 30wt.% vehicle. Then, as an aluminum organic metal compound, the prescribed quantity of aluminum-sec-butoxide is dissolved into n-butyl carbitol, then silver paste is added thereto, and they are mixed by a mixer. Then, electrode material (silver paste) is screen-printed on both surfaces of a zinc oxide varistor sintered element 1 of 1.5mm in thickness in such a manner that the diameter of 10mm is obtained, baked at 800 deg.C for ten minutes, and an electrode 2 is formed.

摘要： PURPOSE:To obtain a zinc oxide varistor wherein voltage dependent nonlinerality is more improved, by specifying content of P in a varistor element. CONSTITUTION:Loadings of P is increased as compared with the conventional case, and the loadgings of P in a varistor element are set to be 0.25-0.5mol%. Additive is added to ZnO, and subjected to wet mixing in a pot mill. P is added in the form of H3PO3. After dehydration and drying, binder is added and granulation is performed by special apparatus. Molding is performed at a pressure of 1000kg/cm and baking is performed at a temperature of 1200$0C for 2 hours, thereby obtaining a varistor element 1. Since the loadings of P to the varistor element is increased, solid solution amount of P in ZnO is increased. As the result, the resistivity of ZnO is remarkably decreased. Thereby voltage dependent nonlinearity in the high current region can be improved.

The ZnO varistor element which exceeds the triple of a standard deviation in the (CXV1mA).(Rs) value largely varies in varistor voltage (V1mA) and is finally broken down when a voltage load and surge load are applied across the element. When the ZnO varistors are sorted based on the (CXV1mA).(Rs) value in such a way, highly reliable ZnO varistor elements can be obtained.

As a result, a zinc oxide varistor, having excellent breaking strength characteristics against discharge, can be obtained, and the deterioration of various electric characteristics can be suppressed to the minimum when a baking treatment is conducted.

What is more, the linear expansion coefficient of the crystallized glass is 65-90X10 / deg.C. Hereby, the strength and the adhesion of the cover improve, and a zinc oxide varistor also excellent in life property can be obtained.
