    • Provided are methods, corresponding apparatuses, and computer program products for performing out-of-band sensing on an unlicensed frequency band. A method comprises sending a configuration message for configuring measurement on at least one channel in a frequency band of a primary system; receiving a measurement report made based upon the configuration message; and determining the usability of the at least one channel based upon the measurement report, wherein the configuration message includes information regarding a respective predetermined threshold of energy detection or primary-system-feature detection, and the measurement report is for reception when a measured energy detection value or a measured primary-system-feature detection value of a received signal on the at least one channel is less than the respective predetermined threshold. With the claimed inventions, the spectrum efficiency would be improved and interference between a secondary system and an LTE system could be alleviated.

    • Provided are methods, corresponding apparatuses, and computer program products for performing spectrum sensing on a spectrum. A method comprises receiving, at a user equipment, information regarding performing spectrum sensing from a base station; performing, based upon the information, the spectrum sensing by the user equipment in an idle mode; and transmitting, by the user equipment out of the idle mode, to the base station a result of the spectrum sensing. With the claimed inventions, transmission interruption caused by non-idle user equipments performing the spectrum sensing would be eliminated.

    • A white space entity reserves spectrum in white space from a reservation system. Consequently, the white space entity may utilize television bands that are unused at a specified time period and geo-location in order to support different services such as wireless audio transmission, networking, video surveillance, and video conferencing. The white space entity requests reservation of spectrum resources from the reservation system by sending a reservation request. The request includes request parameters that may include geo-location, model number or manufacture code number, priority of entity, reservation time period, and maximum power level. The reservation system consequently verifies the request from the priority of the white space entity and the availability of white space spectrum for the desired time period. The white space entity then extracts confirmation parameters from a reservation confirmation message and subsequently transmits on white spectrum in accordance with the parameters.

    • The invention relates to a method for supporting in a wireless communication system an allocation of radio resources to connections between mobile stations 10 and access stations 30 of a network. Each access station serves a sub-area. Each connection uses a radio resource. A respective power set is associated to each sub-area. In the network, an indication of radio measurements {right arrow over (PLk)} performed by a mobile station 10 on signals received from a plurality of sub-areas is received. Further, for a plurality of radio resources, a respective value indicating a signal quality is predicted, which can be expected to occur in a connection between the mobile station 10 and an access station 30 when using a particular radio resource. The prediction is based on power sets associated to the plurality of sub-areas and on the radio measurements performed by the mobile station 10.
