    • An infrared moisture measuring apparatus includes a first infrared light-emitting diode (LED) for emitting infrared rays of a measuring beam whose infrared absorption varies by the moisture content of an object to be measured and a second infrared LED for emitting infrared rays of a reference beam whose infrared absorption does not substantially vary by the moisture content of an object to measured. Also, an optical system is provided for illuminating the infrared rays of the measuring and reference beams emitted by the first and second infrared LEDs on the object and focusing the infrared rays reflected from the object, and an InGaAs light-receiving device is provided for receiving the infrared rays focused by the optical system and outputting a light-received signal which corresponds to a light quantity of the received infrared rays. The moisture value of the object is obtained based on the light-received signal output from the InGaAs light-receiving device.

    • A passenger protecting device of a motor vehicle includes an acceleration sensor which issues an acceleration signal representative of the degree of a vehicle collision; a signal processing circuit which, by processing the acceleration signal, issues an ignition trigger signal when judging that the vehicle collision is critical; a DC power source for charging a plurality of back-up capacitors; a plurality of squibs each having first and second terminals, the first terminals of the squibs being connected to a common terminal and the second terminals of the squibs being connected to the back-up capacitors through respective connection lines; a first switch circuit having one terminal connected to the common terminal and the other terminal grounded; and a plurality of second switch circuits, each being disposed in each of the respective connection lines, each second switch circuit being turned ON when receiving the ignition trigger signal from the signal processing circuit. According to the invention, each of the second switch circuits comprises a current limiting means by which a current supplied from each of the back-up capacitors to the corresponding squib is limited.

    • Herein disclosed is a device for measuring a displacement of a movable member relative to a fixed member by putting the electromagnetic induction into practical use.     • This invention relates to a three-layered polypropylene film consisting of a core layer of biaxially oriented polypropylene sandwiched between ethylene-propylene copolymer layers having a different degree of molecular orientation, shown by birefringence, i.e., birefringence of one copolymer layer is different from that of the other copolymer layer. The film thus prepared has not only a good heat sealing property but also a good resistance against "hot-tack", "blocking", and "scratches". The film can be provided by a process wherein one copolymer layer is biaxially stretched, while the other copolymer layer is uniaxially stretched. Three-layered films of this invention are particularly suited for making bags with lap sealed parts, where lap sealing is a heat sealing method characterized by heat sealing one side of a film with the other side of the film.
