    • The invention provides a liquid storage unit comprising: a case, a liquid storage part for storing a liquid in the case, with which a liquid part communicates; at least one gas accommodation part for accommodating a gas in the case, with which a gas port communicates, wherein the liquid in the liquid storage part is led outthrough the liquid port by a pressure of a gas introduced from the gas port; an inner case provided in the case having a pair of openings on opposite side faces thereof; and a pair of flexible partitioning members sealing said pair of openings of the inner case respectively, thereby partitioning the liquid storage part therebetween and defining said at least one of the gas accommodation part in cooperation with the case.

    • A printer includes a recording head and a maintenance mechanism for sucking an ink in the recording head. A plurality of cartridges to be attached to the printer includes a first housing portion for storing an ink to be supplied to the recording head and a second housing portion for storing a waste ink discharged from the maintenance mechanism. In a first one of the cartridges, the flow path resistance of a cartridge side flow path from a waste ink introducing portion to an air communicating hole for discharging air in a waste ink reservoir portion to an outside through the waste ink reservoir portion is lower than the flow path resistance of each of the cartridge side flow paths of the other cartridges (FIG. 14).

    • Since a bypass flowing passage which communicates with the inside of a bag part not through a second valve mechanism is provided for an outlet part, ink can be filled from the outlet part into the bag part in spite of the existence of the second valve mechanism. Further, after an ink pack that has been yet filled with ink has been housed in an inner case, the ink is filled into the ink pack. Therefore, when a first seal film is welded to the inner case, since the bag part is not bulky, the ends of the bag part are caught in a cartridge case. Therefore, the maximum amount of ink for the inner volume of the cartridge case can be filled. Further, since a bypass flowing passage is blocked after the ink has filled into the ink pack, contamination of air bubbles into the bag part through the bypass flowing passage is prevented.
