    • A diversity receiving apparatus for use in an OFDM transmission radio communication/broadcasting system where OFDM signals are received by a plurality of antennas and input into a plurality of receivers. The OFDM received signals are further transformed into frequency spectra. Channel frequency responses are calculated by using OFDM received signal frequency spectra and a reference frequency spectrum generated in a reference spectrum generator. OFDM received signal frequency spectra distortions are compensated by using corresponding channel frequency responses. The transformed OFDM received signal frequency spectra are input into a selector unit as first input signals, while the distortion-compensated OFDM received signal frequency spectra are input into the selector unit as second input signals. The selector unit then selects a second input signal corresponding to a first input signal having maximum amplitude or maximum power. A demodulator then demodulates the output signal of the selector unit into a digital signal sequence.

    • According to the present invention, there is disclosed a frame synchronization device which detects a time point to start a data frame from a received signal. Here, the received signal is constituted by disposing the data frame following a preamble period constituted by repeatedly disposing a synchronization symbol. The device stores the synchronization symbol in a memory, and establishes correlation between the synchronization symbol stored in the memory and the received signal by the first correlation processor. The received signal is delayed by a time corresponding to a length of the synchronization symbol by a delay unit, correlation is established between signals before and after the delay by a second correlation processor, and the preamble period is detected from a correlation processing result. The start time point of the data frame is detected based on the correlation processing result of the first correlation processor obtained during the preamble period.

    • A transmission channel response calculation section calculates first to n-th transmission channel responses and stores the calculated first to n-th transmission channel responses in a memory section. A correlation calculation section obtains correlation values of the second to n-th transmission channel responses to the first transmission channel responses, respectively, and outputs the obtained correlation values to a transmission channel response synthesis section. The transmission channel response synthesis section gives weights according to the correlation values, weight-synthesizes the first to n-th transmission channel responses, and obtains a synthesized transmission channel response. An influence of noise on the synthesized transmission channel response is reduced. A distortion compensation section eliminates a distortion of the reception signal using the synthesized transmission channel response. Thus, it is made possible to calculate a transmission channel response without being influenced by the noise of a receiver and to ensure eliminating a transmission channel distortion.
