    • A developing apparatus prevents or reduces splashing of toner and carrier caused by abnormal outward airflows generated at downstream positions of a developing unit casing thereof through interactions between behaviors of magnetic brushes and local portions of the developing unit casing. The developing apparatus includes a developer carrying member, a first permanent magnet, a developing unit casing, a second permanent magnet, which is built in the developer carrying member at a fixed position at the downstream side from the first permanent magnet with respect to the rotational direction of the developer carrying member. The developing unit casing has a concave structure to form a low pressure area at a position facing the second permanent magnet. The low pressure area suppresses an increase in the speed of the airflow therein that causes the abnormal outward airflows.

    • An image forming apparatus including a development unit rotatably supported by a body of the apparatus and including a plurality of developing subunits and a plurality of replaceable developer containers each storing a developer to be replenished to a particular one of the developing subunits. Also included is a stepping motor configured to cause the developing unit to rotate in order to bring any one of the developing subunits to a developing position, a preventing mechanism configured to prevent the developing unit from rotating at a time of replacement of any one of the developer containers due to an unexpected change in a voltage or a current driving the stepping motor, and a locking portion included in either one of the developing unit and the body and an engaging portion included in the other of the developing unit and the body, in which the locking portion and the engaging portion selectively engaging with each other for preventing the developing unit from rotating. Further included is a door member opened when any one of the developer containers is to be removed from the apparatus or closed when development is under way. The locking portion and the engaging portion engaging with each other in mechanically interlocked relation to an opening movement of the door member. Also included is a moving device configured to cause the locking portion to engage with the engaging portion by mechanically interlocking the opening movement of the door member to a movement of the locking portion.

    • The method controls a differential pressure of a plate reformer installed in a fuel cell power generation system. In the power generation system, a raw material gas is reformed to a fuel gas in the plate reformer, the fuel gas is fed to an anode of a fuel cell, an anode exhaust gas from the anode is fed to a combustion chamber of the plate reformer a combustion exhaust gas from the combustion chamber is fed to a cathode of the fuel cell together with an air, and part of the air is fed to the combustion chamber. The method includes the steps of placing the plate reformer in a pressure vessel, maintaining a pressure of a cathode exhaust gas to a constant value, feeding part of the air to be fed to the cathode and all of the anode exhaust gas into the combustion chamber to make a pressure of the air and that of the anode exhaust gas substantially the same so as to make a pressure of the reforming chamber and that of the combustion chamber substantially the same, and forming an opening on a line which feeds the air into the combustion chamber to allow the air to enter the pressure vessel so as to make the pressure of the reforming chamber, that of the combustion chamber and that of the pressure vessel substantially the same.

    • A lubricant supplying device includes: lubricant; a supplying member; a housing case; a pushing mechanism that includes a pair of swing members supported swingably in the housing case and a biasing unit urging the pair of swing members to swing; and a remaining amount detecting unit that detects that a remaining amount of the lubricant is equal to or smaller than a predetermined amount.
