摘要： An active material powder mixture for batteries or a carbonaceous material powder mixture for electrical double-layer capacitors is composed of a battery active material or a carbonaceous material in combination with an electrically conductive powder that adheres to the periphery of the active material or carbonaceous material and has an average particle size of 10 nm to 10 μm. The battery active material powder mixture may be used to make electrodes for secondary batteries. The carbonaceous material powder mixture may be used to make polarizable electrodes for electrical double-layer capacitors. Secondary cells produced using the active material powder mixture can lower an impedance of an electrode and operate at a high capacity and a high current, have a high rate property, and are thus well-suited for use as lithium secondary cells and lithium ion secondary cells. Electrical double-layer capacitors made using the carbonaceous material powder mixture have a high output voltage and a high capacity because of a low impedance.

摘要： The present invention is relates to a polishing method for polishing a semiconductor wafer (W) by pressing the semiconductor wafer (W) against a polishing surface (10) with use of a top ring (23) for holding the semiconductor wafer (W). A pressure chamber (70) is defined in the top ring (23) by attaching an elastic membrane (60) to a lower surface of a vertically movable member (62). The semiconductor wafer (W) is polished while a pressurized fluid is supplied to the pressure chamber (70) so that the semiconductor wafer (W) is pressed against the polishing surface (10) by a fluid pressure of the fluid. The semiconductor wafer (W) which has been polished is released from the top ring (23) by ejecting the pressurized fluid from an opening (62a) defined centrally in the vertically movable member (62).

摘要： A vehicular shock-absorbing beam includes a pair of mounting portions disposed at the both ends of a beam body and adapted to be mounted on a vehicle. The shock-absorbing beam is produced by a thermal treatment equipment for the heat treatment of the beam. The thermal treatment equipment comprises a pair of holding means for holding the beam body, a pair of current-applying means for directly applying current to the beam body, and quenching means for quenching the heated beam body. One of the paired holding means or that of the paired current-applying means can be slidable. The quenching means sandwiches the beam body with a lower jig and an upper jig both having corrugated surfaces.
