    • In an aspect of the present invention, a liquid crystal display apparatus includes: a liquid crystal display (LCD) panel; and an LCD driver. The LCD driver includes: a first memory having a capacity more than a capacity of image data for one frame and configured to receive the image data externally to store therein; a second memory; an overdrive processing circuit configured to compress the image data read out from the first memory to generate a compressed image data, write the generated compressed image data in the second memory, and perform an overdrive process based on the image data of a current frame read out from the first memory and the compressed image data of a previous read out from the second memory to generate a post-process image data; and a data line driving section configured to drive data lines of the LCD panel in response to the post-process image data.

    • A display device is provided with a display panel on which a plurality of display pixels are provided; a backlight illuminating the display panel; and a display panel driver driving the display panel. The display panel driver externally receiving image data and a clock signal for controlling timings of receiving the image data. The display panel driver includes a backlight controller generating a PWM-modulated drive signal to drive the backlight. The frequency of the PWM-modulated drive signal is dependent on a frequency-divided clock signal generated by frequency dividing of the clock signal externally received. The frequency-divided clock signal is generated so that the frequency of the PWM-modulated drive signal is kept constant when the frequency of the clock signal externally received is switched.

    • An LCD device according to the present invention has: an LCD panel; an operation and correction circuit configured to perform a correction operation with respect to an input gray-scale data of a target frame image by using an arithmetic expression to generate an output gray-scale data; a data line driver configured to drive the LCD panel in accordance with the output gray-scale data; and a correction data calculation circuit configured to generate a correction data that specifies a relationship between the input gray-scale data and the output gray-scale data of the target frame image, depending on the input gray-scale data of the target frame image or an input gray-scale data of a precedent frame image followed by the target frame image. The operation and correction circuit determines coefficients of the arithmetic expression from the correction data.
