    • An unsaturated copolymer based on olefin which is superior in dynamic fatigue resistance (flexural fatigue resistance), weatherability, fastness to ozone, stability in thermal aging and exhibits also superior performances in chemical reactivity, in processibility and in compatibility as well as co-vulcanizability with aromatic ring-containing resins, such as styrene-butadiene rubber (SBR) etc., and is useful for materials of various rubber products and as modifier for resin products is proposed, said copolymer comprising a structural unit derived from an .alpha.-olefin having 2-20 carbon atoms in a proportion of 30-99.8 mole %, a structural unit derived from an aromatic ring-containing vinyl monomer in a proportion of 0.1-60 mole % and a structural unit derived from a chain-formed non-conjugated triene or tetraene having in the molecule one vinyl group in a proportion of 0.1-10 mole % and said copolymer having an intrinsic viscosity determined in Decalin.RTM. at 135.degree. C. of 0.05-10 dl/g.

    • A process for the preparation of polyolefin which comprises polymerizing or copolymerizing olefin in the presence of a catalyst for olefin polymerization comprising (A) a metallocene compound of a transition metal selected from the Group IVB of the periodic table, and (B) an organoaluminum oxy-compound; wherein the organoaluminum oxy-compound (B) is added to the polymerization system in the form of a slurry in an aliphatic hydrocarbon or alicyclic hydrocarbon, and the polymerization is carried out in the presence of the aliphatic hydrocarbon diluent or an alicyclic hydrocarbon diluent having a boiling point below 100.degree. C. In an embodiment of the invention a polymer solution containing the resulting polyolefin obtained from the polymerization process is fed to a separation zone kept at a temperature of not lower than the upper cloud point of the polymer solution to separate the polymer solution into a lower phase portion containing the polyolefin in a high concentration and an upper phase portion, so as to recover the polyolefin from the lower phase portion in the separation zone and to recycle at least a part of the upper phase portion to the polymerization zone.

    • The first silicon-containing olefin copolymer of the present invention comprises (a) a constituent unit derived from —CH2—CH2—, (b) a constituent unit derived from —CH2—CHR— [R is a hydrocarbon group of 1 to 18 carbon atoms], and (c) a constituent unit containing a specific silicon-containing group, and has a molar ratio [(a)/(b)] of the constituent units (a) to the constituent units (b) of from 99/1 to 30/70, a content of the constituent unit (c) of from 0.1 to 10 mol % based on 100 mol % of the total amounts of the constituent units (a), (b) and (c), and a branching index of not less than 0.70. The second silicon-containing olefin copolymer of the present invention is obtainable by copolymerizing ethylene, an α-olefin of 3 to 20 carbon atoms and a specific silicon-containing ethylene monomer, and has a molar ratio of ethylene to α-olefin of from 99/1 to 30/70, an intrinsic viscosity, as measured in decalin at 135° C., of from 0.1 to 10 dl/g, a content of the ethylene monomer of from 0.1 to 10 mol % based on 100 mol % of the total amounts of ethylene, α-olefin and the ethylene monomer. These copolymers may be cross-linked and then submitted to use, and have a high cross-linking rate, excellent productivity, heat ageing properties, weathering resistance. They, further, can provide a rubber composition capable of preparing molded articles having excellent properties such as scratch resistance, resistance to compression set, electric properties and strength. They furthermore can provide sealing materials, potting materials, coating materials and adhesives made from the composition and also provide cross-linked articles of the composition.
