    • The present invention provides an electric power steering apparatus, in which reduction and thickness thereof can be achieved, radiation performance thereof can concurrently be ensured, and manufacturing and running costs thereof can also be reduced, even when the apparatus includes a structure having a motor and a motor control device integrated therewith. The apparatus includes a motor which assists in steering operations, a motor control device which controls the motor, and a housing which accommodates the motor and the motor control device. The housing includes a motor accommodation portion which accommodates the motor, and a control device accommodation portion which accommodates the motor control device. The motor control device includes a drive unit which drives the motor, and a control unit which controls the motor. The drive unit is disposed in a position in the control device accommodation portion, the position being in proximity to the motor accommodation portion.

    • A rotary electric machine having improved coil connection reliability, simplified coil end processing steps and improved workability based on an improved components mounting method is to be provided. Flat type conductors are inserted in a stacked state into each of slots formed in a stator core, and a side face of a preceding-stage winding terminal end and a side face of a succeeding-stage winding start end in the flat type conductors are lapped and connected to constitute an assembly of stator coils. The stator coil assembly comprises plural coil groups, and one electrode is connected to one conductor end in the coil groups, while another electrode is moved in a successive manner to connect preceding- and succeeding-stage winding terminal and start ends of the conductors. Further, an insulating ring with crossover conductors laid thereon is combined with such stator coil assembly to connect winding terminal and start ends of the stator coil assembly, thereby constituting a predetermined winding circuit.

    • A tape cassette provided with a tape member comprised of a magnetic tape connected to transparent leader tapes affixed to a pair of tape reels rotatably supported in a cassette body via connection tapes. In this cassette body, a light emitting element hole is located between the pair of tape reels. Light transmission holes allowing the light from the light emitting element facing the cassette body via the light emitting element hole to pass therethrough out of the cassette body with the tape member interposed therebetween are provided in the side walls orthogonal to the travelling direction of the tape member travelling over the distance between the pair of tape reels. In addition, a tape information display portion is provided in the tape member which indicates the type of the magnetic tape accommodated in the cassette body. This tape information display portion is provided at a leader tape portion positioned between the point of intersection of a line connecting the light emitting element hole and the light transmission holes and the leader tape and the end portion of the connection tape when the member is completely wound around either tape reel. Since the tape information display portion is formed on the leader tape, the amount of light reflected therefrom is not influenced by the connection tape connecting the magnetic tape to the leader tape so as to result in a high degree of precision of the amount of light detected by the light receiving element.

    • A tape cartridge includes a casing having an upper portion and a lower portion. A channel formed in the upper of portion of the casing is disposed at a corner portion defined by an external upper surface and an external lateral surface of the casing. The channel has a first rectangular-shaped portion formed in the upper surface and a second, adjacent rectangular-shaped channel formed in a lateral surface of the cartridge. A read-only detection opening is formed within the channel. A slidable write-protect member having a main portion and a side portion formed perpendicular to the main portion is disposed within the recess and moves between a first position in which the side portion covers the read-only detection opening and a second position in which the read-only detection opening is exposed. A tapered potion is formed in the upper portion of the casing in proximity to the channel. The tapered portion provides a space for a user to slide the write-protect member along the channel.
