摘要： The invention provides an external speaker control apparatus for causing only one of an internal speaker and an external speaker to output audio when a power supply of the external speaker control apparatus which controls the external speaker changes from an off state to an on state, the external speaker being a speaker outside a video and audio output apparatus. The external speaker control apparatus includes a microcomputer for detecting the change of the power supply of an amplifier from an off state to an on state and a HDMI/CEC communication unit for outputting an instruction requesting output of information which indicates the audio output mode to the video and audio output apparatus while at the same time receiving the information indicating the audio output mode from the video and audio output apparatus in the case where the microcomputer detects the change of the power supply from an off state to an on state, wherein the microcomputer controls the output of the audio from the external speaker based on the information indicating the audio output mode.

Each playlist unit identifies one or more media files in the playlist and includes metadata for the media files. A consumer electronic device retrieves the playlist units and displays the metadata contained therein to a user to enable navigation of the playlist. Aspects of the invention reduce the memory requirements of the consumer electronic devices and reduce the quantity of disk seek operations needed for playlist navigation.

This method has a problem that a buffer underflow occurs if the defective area becomes larger. The size of the defective area allowed in a recording area is limited regardless of the size of the recording area, and recording on the optical disc is performed so that a normal area preceding a first defect in the recording area including a file end portion has a predetermined size.

摘要： Compounds comprising a linear .beta.1.fwdarw.6 glucan esterified by caproic acid, the number of D-glucose residues being from 7 to 40 and the number of caproic acid residues being from 2 to 30, may be be obtained by fermentation of a microorganism of the genus Aureobasidium. These compounds are designated HS-142-1. 摘要： A composite machine tool for metal working, provided with a pair of vertical columns. On the front and rear sides of the vertical columns, there are provided a vertical lathe and a milling machine, respectively, able to be driven and operated independently of each other. Machining by these machine tools is effected on a workpiece rested on a pallet. A pallet transfer apparatus for conveying a succession of pallets with workpieces is provided between the vertical lathe and the milling machine and between the vertical columns. When each turning operation in the vertical lathe is finished, the corresponding pallet with the workpiece rested thereon is immediately conveyed into the milling machine by the pallet transfer apparatus. The composite machine tool is particularly useful in reducing the time for conveying comparatively heavy workpieces.
